Need help! In New Zealand for a month with 10yr old Beta AR now falling apart at bottom with next 3 wks to go being more challenging.. Able to buy duct tape today and place around bottom edge to keep drawcord in place. Brought this instead of hybrid light. Please email me if you receive this- have pictures. Bought at Salt Lake City REI autumn 2007. Wore this all over while living in Alaska.
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. I love to walk outside, being outdoors, being in nature. The beta AR really lives up to the expectation, there's no excuse to not go outside. It keeps me dry, when I wear a down jacket underneath it, it is comfortable, durable, it is a great jacket. Highly recommended!
I bought the jacket 5 years ago, the Jacket accompanied with me to several times of outdoors atctivies. No matter windy, snowy or rainy day, it can help you overcame both of them and support me to reaching my full potential. I highly recommend the Jacket for you.
Debating keeping this jacket. I like everything, but the fact that the Internal pocket is not big enough for and iPhone 6 or s8+. That only leaves hand pockets for cell phone, or pants pockets which is too awkward for climbing or skiing. No reason they couldn't have made the pocket entrance bigger. If I hold my phone up to the pocket it looks like it would fit, but as the zipper is only 3/4 of the way across in the middle there is no way to get it in. I'm worried the other models of the jackets would be the same.
Love this jacket! True to it's name, its an all-round great piece. From hiking to snowboarding to general day use this jacket is perfect for them all. Nice length, great hood, and of course super waterproof! I bought an xl so its roomy enough for layers but it's not too baggy to be worn on its own. Best of all, doesn't feel like a sticky garbage bag when you get your sweat on : )
Best jacket I ever had - loved the fit and functionality for biking and the annual skiing trip. Really sad it only lasts 2-3 years as the layers are now peeling and waterproofness is gone. I expected more from Arcteryx making the most expensive jackets in the business. Great functionality but not made to last - even just with mild use.

I've taken this jacket out in some horrible conditions and it always keeps me dry. It also breathes well enough to travel uphill. My only problem is that I notice that it stains easily. I have marks from sunscreen around the collar and other scuffs from use that will not come off.
I initially purchased this in a size medium and chose the black sapphire as my color. As luck would have it I found myself swimming in this jacket so I exchanged it for a small in the Whiskey Jack. I wasn’t sure about the color at first but now I’m loving how it goes with almost every color. I wore it in an all day downpour and stayed completely dry. Being able to adjust the hood is a real bonus. The Beta AR is a regular fit so it does NOT run small. I had ordered the medium thinking most Arc’teryx run small but this is not the case with this style. I’m 5’3” and weigh 117lbs. There is room for a down coat underneath without the slightest restriction to moving my arms. While doing a little last minute shopping at REI, while wearing my jacket, I found that the Atom LT in the dimma color actually matches the Whiskey Jack extremely well. Now I’m waiting on that little treat to arrive in the mail. I love the high collar in the Beta AR. This is an amazing replacement for my 16 year old North Face shell.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Bought this jacket in preparation for our hiking of the O Circuit of the Torres del Paine in Patagonia and used it on a recent hike in BC .. it poured rain the entire hike up and I stayed DRY!
This is a great shell and I love the vibrant colours it comes in. I personally found this shell quite short in the body. If I raise my arms, it will show my torso, and only just covers my bum. I went to size up but it was just too large. I think if Arc'teryx added a bit more length to the jacket, this would be the ultimate shell for women. The only other thing I found is that there seems to be a lot of room around the top of the sleeve that is really baggy on me even when I've layered. A little more trim there would be ideal but then again, that's just me! All-in-all a great shell, I love mine, I just wish it was a little bit longer.
