Perfect amount of padding and shape

Prior to buying this ergon, I rode an ambly padded granny seat and was sceptical about a saddle that was so sleek looking. It turns out that you need a balance between just enough padding to cushion you but not so much that you sink in to your saddle too far and add pressure to the wrong places. I think this saddle achieves that balance. And I swear this saddle got a bit squishier/ broke in after a couple weeks of riding so don't be fooled by its stiffness in the store. About the reviewer: To be honest I can't compare this saddle to all the other women's specific saddles that REI offers, but I like this saddle enough that I'm thinking about forking out the money for the Ergon ST Core. I've been biking regularly for about a year and have used this saddle for a little over 2 months on a Masi Giramondo. I mainly ride city streets and gravel trails and take my bike bike-packing, so I've used this saddle off-road for up to 45 miles. My bike is rigid (no suspension/ shock absorption). I bought this saddle after a glowing recommendation from my boyfriend about the brand. He used an Ergon for The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. My advice: Since this was my first investment in a saddle (instead of using granny saddles that a friend or family member gave me) here are some things I learned along the way: I recommend getting a balance and playing around with the angle your saddle is at, no matter which one you buy. Maybe you'll like yours tilted up slightly or prefer it flatter, but it can be hard to eyeball it (mine was angled up higher than I wanted for the first couple rides even though it looked flat to me). And always remember that no matter which one you buy, it's a saddle not a seat. So have a good bike fit and put weight on your legs/pedals when appropriate (you're not meant to put your weight on your derriere and favorite places all day long!). Also, I totally believe in women's specific saddles. They're wider for your sit bones and I like the shorter length when I'm riding out of the saddle.

Does NOT fit 16 cm hip bones

The saddle is well made and the gel padding has a really nice feel. However, my sit bones are exactly 16 cm in a seated position, and they just hit the side edges of the seat as I am riding (I am 5'9 with an athletic build). A 50 mile ride on this seat almost had me walking the bike the last mile home. I really wish this saddle came in three sizes instead of just two.

Wonderful Saddle

I know saddles are relative and each body type affects how they feel, but I love this seat. The seat that originally came with my bike was causing soreness for days after riding, and putting a lot of pressure on my lady bits (before the ride was even finished). My butt feels way better and I can hop on the bike again without the same tenderness I had before. My lady bits are practically singing their praises to this seat, and I’ve had none of the same pressure and pain I had been experiencing. I love this saddle. Again, I know saddles are relative, but I am thrilled with it.

I am glad I found it

After many different 'tips & tricks' for not making my junk sore on a ride I came across this saddle brand. I have tried other expensive saddles and bibs and I was feeling abnormal and alone in my quest for comfort. If you are curious, I suggest you try it. I also suggest you go to the Ergon website to help you fit yourself to one and it is extremely helpful. Do not give up, you are not alone.

I'm about to buy a 2nd Ergon for another bike.

I've been riding bikes 4-5x/week for about 15 years and I always had skin issues related to poorly fitting saddles that were too narrow. My sit bones are 14.5cm wide so it's really difficult to find a properly fitting saddle. I tried this Ergon at a mountain bike festival a few years ago and found it to be a more affordable option for wider sit bones compared to the Specialized Mimic saddle that I already owned. I just bought a new bike to add to the quiver and I'll be getting another Ergon saddle to keep me happy out on the trails.

Great Saddle for me

After getting to a point on my mtn bike that I was HATING to ride because it was SO uncomfortable, I realized that my saddle was ALL WRONG (thanks fancy bike shop that didn't educate me on that!). I started doing research, had my sit bones measured, then ordered this saddle. Yes. Just yes all around. Biking is no longer a pain in the ----- well, you know where, ladies. Definitely recommend this saddle if your required seat size is between 140-150.

Do your under carriage a favor

I didn't know I needed this saddle until I was on day 2 of the TNGA pre ride and the under carriage was going downhill FAST. Went to Ergon's saddle finder and settled on this one. I used it for a 5 day TNGA and my bits were the things I worried about the least. Didn't know what I was suffering through until I wasn't suffering any more. Short background: I ride a lot. Long, endurance rides are my jam and I have a hard butt. But it needed a little care too it turns out.

Recommend for women mountain bicyclists

I ride road, mountain, and fat bikes. I have had several types of saddles. I put this on my mtn bike and rode 41 hilly miles and it was great. I forgot about the saddle which is what you want in a saddle.

Great MTB saddle for me

No bike saddle works for every rider. This one works for me. My bike's stock saddle was another Ergon that only had a shallow groove instead of the cut-out, but that one gave me soft-tissue problems during longer rides. I just finished a 4-day trip that included several 20-mile days of MTB XC riding, and I didn't have any problems with chafing or saddle sores using the Ergon Women's SM Sport Gel Bike Saddle. Do measure your sit bones - I'm a petite woman but selected the M/L size based on my measurements.

Comfortable and lasting

I really struggled to find a comfortable bike seat before this. Cutout seats don't work for everyone, but this is a great design for my body. Fewer saddle sores than ever, even on multi-week bike packing trips. I've had this seat for 3 years now, so I can comfortably say it hold up.
