What she said...
Funny...I echo the comments of the review above me. I'm 5'2" and this one seemed to fit me best. It does not feel bulky at all. (Being petite, I always feel like the Michelen Man or Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man in gear like this.) For sure, be prepared to try a few on, it's very individual. I particularly like how slim this is around the arms...lots of room to move. These pockets are small-ish, but that will keep me from carrying around too much stuff that will weigh me down. I preferred the zippered pockets of some of the others, but overall I had to go with the comfy fit.
Comfortable even for large chests
The straps and neck pieces of this PFD are sturdy but breathable, making this a great PFD for forgetting you are wearing it. I am normally a 40 DDD but the medium fits great. It isn't tight over my chest but it also isn't a shelf off my chest. I bought this for paddleboarding and I still have my full range of motion sitting, kneeling, or standing. This PFD doesn't fold well, so it isn't a good choice if you are looking for a PFD to have on a SUP but not use. My only real complaint is that the pockets are like women's jeans pockets, they work only for very specifically shaped items.
Fits larger chested women, you'll like this one.
Great for larger chested ladies, Dont have that claustrophic feeling in it. Great product and the back pillow part of this pfd when i was swimming in it i used as a pillow. Its very comfortable, didn't dig into my sides or chest area, didn't feel constrictive, was able to paddle and fish with ease. I don't like the pockets though and that's because they are snap design, that's my only disappointment about this pfd. Otherwise i highly recommend this product.
Good for a short torso
My original pfd always rode up my back and felt very bulky when I was kayaking. This one stayed in place and I forgot I was wearing it! The pockets are adequate but not particularly roomy. But I bring a dry sack anyway. The fit is great for 5'2" 140 lbs, average chest size
Comfortable PFD
This PFD is very comfortable for my short, curvy frame. I'm 5'2" with 38"-30"-40" measurements. The PFD adjusts to fit snugly without being uncomfortable, and stays in place while paddling. Like other reviewers, I wish the pockets zipped instead of just snapped.
Best PFD in this price point
Super impressed. Bought for my daughter who just turned 12 and paddles whitewater. She is average hight and and averagely slim (about 4’11” and 105 lbs) - she is barely too heavy for kid pfds and too narrow in the chest for the other women’s XS pfds. The specs on this one says it goes down to 28” chest. What we love is that if you are small and cinching it way down, it doesn’t bunch up in annoying ways. It fits a smaller person quote well. Look at the straps closely on the jacket - when you chinch it all down, it pulls the jacket away from your armpits and let’s it be snug with really nice range of movement (be sure to let out the shoulder straps to allow the jacket to get down out of your ears, chinch them last. I am 5’4” 130 lbs, flat chested with really wide athletic back and the XS/S fits us both perfectly. My singular critique is I wish front pockets were zipper instead of snap, but the pockets are fine. Not huge but average for white water PFD. Not a deal breaker at for the the price.
Great for lager chested women
I love to partake in water sports, however, finding a PFD that fits me appropriately is beyond difficult. This fits perfectly and was comfortable enough for an 8 hour ocean kayak excursion.
Big Girl PFD
Reviews I read led me to this purchase. They were spot on. This is an ideal pfd for the plus sized or large chested woman. I love all the adjustment straps; they allow for infinite fit possibilities. If is very comfortable to wear and allows for full range of motion. The mesh back helps with air flow, and the higher position of the floatation works well with my sit a top seat back. An added plus is 17lb of floatation.
Love the Purple
Vest is great quality and very adjustable with all the adjustable straps this gets 3 stars. Sizing is OSFA. (Plus size straps are longer) Adjustments are in the straps. This is a good-looking vest that is listed as category 70 for calm water kayaking, canoeing stuff like that. The CONS: the back of this vest has a puff located top back area that feels awkward while seating in a seat with a back rest. Strap Buckles need better reinforcements for plus size. I would recommend having another person help with adjustments for Proper fit. To do a fit check place 2 fingers under the shoulder and pull vest up. If vest lifts off the shoulder past the chest, then that vest is too loose. This holds true to any vest you buy.
Comfy, safe and snug
My first Stohlquist PFD went mysteriously missing so I had to replace it. This one is exactly that: comfy, safe and snug. I like that it’s keeping me warm in the early fall weather too.
