Don't recommend
I've had these socks since March/April 2024 and the stitching round the big toe is coming undone. For the price I'd think these socks would hold up longer
Were these meant for a six year old kid??
These socks were tight when I first tried them on. It felt like they were pulling my toes toward my ankles and I wear very average 8.5B shoes. After washing the socks in cold water, they shrunk so much they would have been tight on anyone but a small child.
No blisters
I am VERY blister prone, and routinely walk about 4-6 miles a few times a week. These are truly the only socks I can wear without getting blisters. Worth every penny, especially since I don't have to keep purchasing moleskin for the blisters.
The best hiking sock ever!!!
I just finished hiking about 80 miles in the Dolomites and not one sore spot or even sign of a blister with these Balega socks. A year ago I was a big Thorlo sock fan and I still am for normal daily use, however I had blisters bad hiking in Switzerland. Smartwool also isn't as gentle on the feet as these Balegas. I am totally sold and felt compelled to get on and tell the world so people could enjoy their long hiking trips blister free. I will be buying more ASAP. So glad I stopped at REI before my trip and saw the no blister guarantee and tried them. Totally worked and I was amazed and grateful the whole trip.
Can't confirm if they were "Blister Resist" or not
Bought these as part of an "Anti-Blister Task Force Trifecta". Tried socks, moleskin, and body-glide", then combinations of just one, two and three. Decided any socks would do right around the time these socks started to both shrink and generally fail. One hike in particular I noticed that the right sock ankle-band had decided to fail and become a grit, dirt, and brush "cup", later "funnel", almost immediately followed by left. Tossed in the trash after a run through the laundry failed to recuperate. Would not recommend. These are nothing more than socks. No magic. No secret powers.
Good for kayaking, too!
I got a pair of these socks to wear with well-ventilated shoes (Merrell All Out Blaze Aero Sport) while kayaking. While the river water was ice-cold—and yes, I stepped in it several times—my feet were comfortable soon after getting them back in the kayak. It was a hot day, but my feet felt good the whole time I was wearing these socks, both before and after kayaking. While I really like these socks—the fit is perfect, and they did exactly what I wanted them to do (keep my feet comfortable in extreme conditions)—I find them quite ugly. I wish that sock companies would quit trying to outdo each other in the number of colors, shapes, and patterns they can put on a sock, and make good-looking performance socks—you know, ones that don't get rejected by circus clowns for being too outlandish.
Finally found a pair of socks to hike
Allergy to wool reduced my options. Now I have a pair to walk and hike in and no blisters too. Hiking around Mt. Rainier is so much more enjoyable now!
Not blister resistant
I bought these socks for a hiking trip where I would be hiking around 12 miles a day. I wore this socks the first day and they had cushioning and were comfy, but they did not help to prevent blisters whatsoever. With about a mile left to go, I had to walk barefoot due to my blisters being the size of a 50 cent coin. Over the next few days, the blisters grew very red and were puss filled. Overall, they look cute, have cushioning, but don’t do the one thing that they are supposed to-prevent blisters.
Definitely recommend
I have a couple of Balega Hidden comfort which caused blisters during some runs but not all the times. I tried to adjust my feet while running and never had that problem after that. I wanted to try this blister resist socks and wow, i didn't even have to adjust my feet while running. Perfect fit and nice cushioning. I tried these socks with my road running Brooks and trail running On and didn't face any issues. Definitely recommend.
New Manufacturers for Balega?!?
Balegas are being made somewhere else or something. My last several pairs have some shoddy workmanship. The toe stitching, specifically, is a separate line of thread, with a gap between the materials. I'm pretty disappointed but need them for a trip this week. I doubt I'll mail order Balegas again and will be looking for a different brand of socks in the future. Sad, cause all my socks have been this brand. But they cheaped out!
