My husband got a pair of these pants at the Mast General Store in Asheville, NC. He LOVED them. He wore them multiple times before washing them, as he doesn't wash his pants every single time he wears them. After only 4 washes they started pulling apart at the seam above the cell phone pocket on the left thigh. He reached out to KUHL hoping they would offer to at least fix them, and he was told they wouldn't do anything about it! If someone pays as much for these pants as he did, they should hold up longer than these did! RIDICULOUS!
I love these. They’re well-made, breathable, comfortable, and fit perfectly (I have a slim build, so the tapered knee to ankle is a good fit). They fit like a slim-straight regular pant would fit. Great purchase for hiking! For sizing reference, I’m 5’9”, 160lbs - purchased a 30x32.
I bought a pair of Radikyl pants which I liked a lot. I was informed that Free Radikyl was a "lighter" version of the Radikyl, so I purchased a pair on sale. They are much the same, but the cut is considerably different, which is NOT mentioned in the product description (thje removable tags do differentiate). Foe me the waist was larger for the same size (34, I prefer a 33 which is not available). The waist is also higher cut so that there is binding in the crotch when stepping high despite the elastic and cotton. The slightly narrower legs were not a problem, but since I have to wear these "hiked" up higher on my waist the 30 length is just a tad short. Had I not bought them on sale, I would have returned them.
Since purchasing these I have climbed in them, rode a motorcycle in cold weather (with some thermal leggings on), hiked in them, done chores in them, basically lived in them, and I must say: they are great pants. The stealth phone pockets are so intuitive, the stretch panels function seamlessly. My only concern would be that they run a tad large in the waist, which warrants the use of a belt, especially after some wear. Overall, great pants.
Nice material and they sit good in the waist but way too narrow down from the knees. I can't bend my knees in these pants. If I take 2 sizes up (REI does not offer odd sizes), they will be too loose in the waist and probably still too tight below the knees.
