Smooth like butta!

I actually purchased these pedals from a local bike shop, but read reviews about them on this very website and went off of that to purchase them. There was an immediate difference in the pedals I’d been riding on for 2 years and with these! I ride a chromaly framed fixed gear bike and they’re perfect for riding on road.

Can no longer adjust height of the pins
Montereyjack

In the past Shimano provided 3 pin spacers per pin so the user could adjust the height of the pins. Now Shimano states on the user guide provided with these pedals that there may or may not be pin spacers provided. Not helpful and good luck finding spacers online.

Feet are locked in place

I put these in my eBike. I was tired of my feet slipping off the the pedal. These have a nice platform and my tennis shoes really lock in place. Quality is exceptional.

Improved my biking ability on the trails.

My bike didn't come with pedals so the shop gave me some cheap plastic pedals for free. I decided to buy the Shimano GR 500's and immediately felt a difference on the trails, especially climbing. Much more grip even just wearing some Vans and I am able to get more power into each pedal stroke with them, the pins are still at stock height too. The first pair was actually defective (noisy bearings in the left pedal) but REI did a great job at exchanging them in-store. I got these because I'm not ready for clipless, but these are so good I might not worry about getting clipless.

Comfortably in between flat and concave

I bought a fancy XC bike for non-race riding, so was looking for something that was light, large, comfortable, not too grippy, and not too pricey. To check all boxes is basically impossible, so I sacrificed weight. These have a wider footprint than most one-size-only pedals, and are slightly concave, so quite comfortable for longer distances. I haven't tried the adjustable pins yet, but the default is less grippy, which is fantastic for less aggressive riding. In short: the design is fantastic. The main trade-off is weight. These are on the heavy end of the spectrum, at 533g, but in the end for most of us the 100-200g difference over ligher options won't be noticable. If weight is a primary concern, you'll need to make sacrifices elsewhere (size, cost, etc.).

From clipless pedals to flat platform pedals

For 20 years, I had been using cleated bike shoes and clipless pedals (Frogs by Speedplay). Because I do more urban biking than I used to several years ago, I decided that it would be safer and more convenient to switch to platform pedals. It was a good choice on my part. However, flat platform pedals are quite a bit bigger than my old Frogs; this means that when I lean into a sharp turn, I can sometimes scrape the end of the pedal on the pavement. As a result, I am more careful on some of my turns.

Helps to keep your foot on the pedals

I installed these on a Rad Mini power bike that I had just purchased. The difference over the stock pedals was amazing. To become a better rider on any bike you must keep your foot on the pedal at all times in all conditions. This does the job well. The pedals seem bombproof and should last for years

Great for those who don't want to clip in

Great pedals for those who don't like to clip in. Very solid, heavy duty, and my shoes "cling" to them. Looks great, feel great (heavy duty), and work very well on my Canyon Grizl.

Great pedal for gravel bike

Yes, very happy with these pedals on my gravel bike. The two grip pegs in the middle of the pedals and the slightly overall concave shape gives a really good grip and keeps my foot in place while wearing shimano touring shoes with a pretty hard sole. The grip pegs stick out about 2mm but you can use some included washers to lower them a bit if you don’t need them that high. Nice quality, I’d buy again.

Great pedals

These are great quality pedals I have these on my mud fat and now adding this new set to my full fat bike You have to back the screws out to remove the spacers on the studs for max grip. These pedals are also rebuildable which makes them very good quality
