Well Done Camelbak!
I have the first model of this “fanny pack” style. I loved it so much that I wanted to get one for my husband. So, I bought the prior model on clearance and learned that there were some serious design flaws. This new model is great!!!! I’m so happy to see the improvements in storage, organization options, and ease in loading the bladder. I’m looking forward to putting many miles on this pack!
Brilliant!
I bought this for a friend with Polycythemia, a blood disorder possibly caused by but definitely made worse by dehydration. Working in an industrial job he simply keeps it around his waist, front or back, and no longer has to take frequent breaks to keep his hydration stable. This product is not only for biker, hikers or the military but in my humble opinion should be issued to all people working in conditions where hydration is important. Well made and easy to use and IT DOES NOT LEAK when you use it correctly.
Just what I needed
I decided to take a chance on this even though there was a one star rating. When I got this I filled the reservoir and tightened lid and squeezed the reservoir and it leaked. Repeated this three times and leaked every time. Then I decided to tighten cap more than I thought I should and it worked tight seal!! I loosened it and tightened again and it works perfectly. I believe that the first person that rated didn’t try tightening fully. You need to use some force to tighten fully. Would definitely buy again!!
Won't seal!
My son bought the Vantage as a Christmas gift. I thought this was a good ides as I had back surgery and wasn't carrying my day pack as much. I cannot get it to seal. I've used it three times and tried to resolve the issue. Nothing works! Rubber is perfectly OK. I tried a bit of grease used in my underwater camera. Still leaks!! Not happy!
Good. but......
Rig/bag itself works great. I use it for outrigger paddling hydration. However, my mouthpiece cracked on the first day of use. i'd change my star rating if I could get a replacement sent over to me?
Difficult to access the suction tip
With the full water bladder in the bag, it makes it difficult to use the pockets of the pack as it becomes too bulky. Better to simply have a pack that has two water bottles on the outside.
Good Waist Hydration Belt.
Bought this waistpack today on sale. Reviews, especially on the previous model, the Flash Flo LR, are sketchy, but so far this seems like a great waistpack. Hydration waistpack with systems like this are few and far between, so I was happy to find one made by a company like camelbak. So far, i see very little problems except a few- Besides the main compartment, the pockets are small. The side belt pockets are so small that my phone won’t fit in them, but would probably work for small things like batteries, chapstick, trail mix baggies, a small notepad, etc. The secondary compartment on the bag is also small, and will fit my phone (IPhone 6S with an OtterBox) but only with a bit of hassle, and it probably won’t fit much more than that. The main compartment is nice and big, but with a full Hydration Resevoir (1.5 L,) it’s obviously smaller. The only other problem I foresee is that when the Hydration Resevoir is full, it pushes against the back of the bag, which may make it uncomfortable to wear or loose on the lumbar area. Not a huge problem depending on how you size it. It’s still substantially easier to put in the Hydration Resevoir than the last model, and Canelbak’s design with the opening going over to the back of the pack is good because it removes extra fabric that may stop the Hydration resevoir from being inserted better. Not a huge issue either and my personal preference, but I don’t need all of the hook loops on the inside or outside of the bag. But these may be beneficial to some. Otherwise, it’s an all-around great hydration pack. Probably better than the Repack LR 4, and fits my waist fairly well, but may be a little small for the larger in waist among us. I’d recommend it for anyone who’s an avid day hiker and wants a waistpack with Hydration.
