To India and back

I bought this bag to transport my Surly ECR (medium/ 27.5) to India and back. It worked great to send my bike there on one flight and then get it back from the Himalayas to Delhi and then Delhi to Newark. No damage anywhere. There are color coded clips, a handlebar & fork bag and special disc brake supports. I like the brief instructions on the inside cover. They reminded me of the correct steps to follow to load. I did have to search the internet for a video on how to exactly utilize all the features, but once I figured it out, it was great (i practiced packing & unpacking stateside a few times - takes about 30 min each way). The bag has wheels so it was easy to pull through the airports. The multiple hand-straps made getting it into/out of jeeps easy. It rolled into a big tube 15” x 60” to carry in the sag wagon. My ECR is a big bike and this was a great way to transport it. PS my ride was from Manali to Leh in northern india.

Not a great fit for road bikes

Though advertised for all types of bikes, including road, it's clearly built for mountain bikes. My road bike didn't fit at all well within the bag. I had to add extra padding near the bottom bracket to protect the chain ring. The top tube protector didn't fully overlap the frame. The straps couldn't secure the bike properly. As a result, the bike moved around. Tried to work with Dakine on these issues which they acknowledged. But while initially promising, felt I just got the runaround.

Flew from SEA to PIT RT as checked baggage.

I took my first trip with this bike to ride the Great Allegheny Passage from Pittsburgh to Cumberland Maryland. I was worried never having done this that I would have trouble with checking but it was a breeze in Seatac Airport. Alaska Airlines weighed it and off I went to oversize baggage and it was my regular free checked bag. No questions asked. Just be mindful of weight but they let me slide a couple pounds. I used a video on youtube for packing reference. Overall very happy with the travel. Had no issues and bike arrived fine. I did have issues with the rear derailleur but that is me not knowing how to properly reattach it. I went to a local REI and they took care of adjusting it free of charge. Be aware of how to do this. I was tempted to leave it on for the return. I may in the future.

Bag is awesome it shipped directly to the store I picked it up no hassle super easy. Took a a few minutes to figure out the bike bag but once I figured it out the bike fit perfect everything has a spot and is protected. I used it to fly frik the east coast to the west coast was super easy just make sure the bike bag is under 50lbs

Great for bike traveling! Highly recommend.

Purchased bag for trip to the Kingdom Trails in Vermont with my brand new carbon mtb. It worked pretty flawlessly. I had read some reviews on it and some had said to be careful that the hubs don't scratch the frame, so I did add some additional packing material. With that in mind my bike came back without a scratch or any damage. Packing was very intuitive. Fork sleeve is fantastic. Highly recommend this bag. In addition, it is one of the lightest bike travel bags so the only piece of my bike I removed was the brake rotors and I was under the limit of 50lbs for a checked bag.

Lightweight, easy to pack bike bag for 29er MTB

Each part of the bag is color coded and makes it easy to pack when the bike is disassembled. The padding for the disc rotors is also appreciated. My size large trail bike had plenty of room when packed up. My only request would be to give the derailleur bag more slack from the base of the bag. Would be great to tuck away to a more padded place. Amazing design and value. Highly recommended.

Fatbike in a little jacket, I mean bag.

This bag is really well thought out, and seems made to last for years. I really don’t have anything negative to say about it, but wanted to pass along some notes for future buyers. I’m currently riding a Surly fatbike. It fits, but getting the wheels in their pockets takes a little work, as they pretty much max out the wheel pocket capacity. My tires are 3.7” or sometimes referred to as 4”. If you’re running anything larger, I’d be very surprised if you can squeeze them in. The other thing to keep a close eye on is your total weight. Since the bag weighs almost 18lbs, and currently Delta and American Airlines have a 50lb cap, things can get interesting. As it is, I have to pull multiple parts of my bike just to make weight, let alone think of including any extra gear in the bag. With those notes made, I’m really enjoying this bag. I’ve only used it on one trip so far, but finally being able to ride at my destination, without having to drop cash on a rental, is really nice, and I can’t wait for the next one.

Awesome bag!

I bought this bag to transport a bike from AK to AZ and back and it worked perfectly. I have a Salsa Fargo (size sm) with 2.5" tires and a Jones H bar. The many handles and roller wheels made it surprisingly easy to move around and lift in and out of vehicles for such a bulky item. It's my first bike bag and comes with minimal instructions, but after watching a video online, it was super quick and easy to pack my bike. Like the other reviewer mentioned, the color-coded clips are helpful. Even empty the bag is BIG, so make sure your car/truck is empty! I was able to fit 2 of these bike bags fully packed in a Subaru outback and a Jeep Patriot, with room to spare for 2 fully loaded backpacking backpacks and some other odds and ends. I will also note that the bottom resists dirt/sand very well even in wet conditions.

Travel bag does what it is designed to do, protects your bike and keeps all the parts stored. If only the TSA inspectors could put things back the way they found them traveling with this case would be even more trouble free. When you pack, don't pack loose parts or tools. They may not make it back into the bag thanks to the TSA.
