Saved me from my Reynaud’s when my boots leaked!
I’ve had my pair of Darn Tough socks for years and I love them. They fit well, have great cushioning and don’t sag. But I didn’t realize how truly spectacular they were until I hiked 2 of the 46 high peaks Memorial Day weekend. The trails were muddy, sometimes with large puddles and sometimes with 3 feet of snow and I found that my waterproof boots weren’t waterproof. These socks and the Gore Tex liner in my boots kept my feet warm enough to prevent my Raynauds from kicking in-for 8 hours! I’ll never switch brands.
My favorite long hike socks
Once I found these hiking socks there’s no going back. I wait for the sale that comes around once a year or so and stock up on Darn Tough socks, and these specifically. I love the full cushion socks. They are my first choice for days when I know I’ll be out on the trail most of the day. My feet stay comfortable and don’t hurt on the way back to the trailhead. I wash them cold on my machine’s wool cycle and dry on the lowest setting. This keeps them soft and in good condition. Highly recommended.
Great socks but run small
These are wonderful socks EXCEPT they run small. I bought the size L according to the size chart (I'm a womens size 10). They seemed okay when I first put them on. But later they seemed too tight in the toes. I just ordered the men's large. Hope they fit better.
Great, but need wider top elastic
These socks are super comfy and cute but I have bigger calves and the top elastic was irritating me after a few hours of hiking.
Wow for Wool
Never dreamed I could allow wool socks to touch my sensitive skin but these are surprisingly soft and non-itchy. The store clerk told me she wears hers around the house every day so I tried them that way too. She was right! Besides being cushy hiking socks, they are almost like house slippers because of the plushness. They are thick but not too thick, and the colors cheer me way more than the old school gray and white heather wool socks of old. Recommended!
warm and comfortable socks
The socks are very warm and comfortable, I have cold feet, so it is what I needed. I am not that crazy about the color, but those are the only full cushion women's socks that are available on sale. REI, please get more darn tough socks (more styles and more colors). I am a size 9, I bought size L, and the fit is perfect, I am glad that I sized up.
comfy and tough
Great socks. Run a little small if you're on the top end of the size range. I'm a 9 street shoe, 9.5 hiking shoe, and I got a large this time because previous medium just has to be pulled too tight.
Solid socks!
I've had these socks for almost 2 years and they're still in great shape! I have not experienced thinning in the heels or toes after wearing them about one or twice every other week. My feet does become sweaty in the hotter days in the Chicagoland (worn with a pair of steel toe boots) and these socks really help keep my feet from overheating. My feet do stinky a bit after wearing them in the boots for 9-10 hours, but the odor will go away shortly. (I don't have recorded times...) Its much more comfortable to wear these in the late spring or in fall.
Best socks ever made
Won’t hike in any other socks but darn tough. Got woman’s large because I like the flashy woman’s colors. Wear mens medium and they fit perfect.
I love these socks!
This sock is fitted and cushy - gives great comfort and protection on the trail. Around the house they counter the chill of my wood floors. Darn Tough is the BEST, and the only sock I've been buying for a couple of years now. The best fit, the best durability, the best non-itchy comfort, the best sock styles/colors, and they're unconditionally guaranteed for life! What more could I possibly ask for?
