Good protection for wet days
The case is very well made and surprisingly tight; even in a heavy thunderstorm it kept the camera and lens dry, while I was soaking wet despite the umbrella. It's a bit tricky to attach, especially pulling the anchors through, but the case is then securely attached to the camera. What I would like is a version with an opening for the viewfinder. Mirrorless cameras can be used very well via the display with the case attached, but this is a bit difficult with viewfinder cameras. Even though the trend is towards mirrorless cameras, I would be happy if Peak Design took up this suggestion. A little tip: if you mount a seamless focus ring on the zoom of the lens, you can still zoom quite precisely through the case.
Perfect Travel Cover for your camera
This product is a perfect partner if you are looking to protect your camera / lenses from scratches if you don't have a dedicated camera compartment in your bag. The shell covers the camera perfectly and now I can place it my backpack with other items without worrying about scratches on the body of camera and lenses.
Did Well In a Diverse Climate
I bought this shell before a trip to Iceland. I choose the large size for a Nikon D5100 with a Sigma superzoom lens. While the cover was too big for the equipment, I actually preferred this. The extra space allowed my hand to be inside the cover operating the controls while it poured rain in windy conditions. I have a shoulder strap that screws into the bottom of the camera body so it was in a good position for hiking in rain. My only complaint is the cover would slip off the end of the lens and crop into the corners of my shot. If I forgot to lock the lens prior to installing the cover, I would have to find shelter to take it off and try again.
The Camera Shoftshell! The perfect Product!
Peak design creates each time the right product unavailable on the market for your camera. I will call this product the camera sohftshell not waterproof but good enough to protect your camera and take photos without having to take it out of your bag and put it back. I carry my camera with a shoulder strap, the camera is protected and I can take photos much faster. I use this product for outdoors, ski touring, rock-alpine-ice climbing, hiking! I bought the small size for a duji XT-30, with 10-24 mm lenses, it fits perfectly! Maybye they will release one day a Hardshell version for photographs looking for a rainproof cover! Thanks Peak Design! Big fan of the brand!
Like a glove
I ordered the small for my Canon 70D and lens. It fits like a glove. Easy to remove and put on.
What a product!
While out and about I'd often hide my camera in my jacket. In the colder temps of an Icelandic winter this became a problem - with every unzip of my jacket to capture moments of our vacation - I'd invite wind, rain, and sometimes snow into my jacket, onto my camera, and I'd immediately regret it. By the time our trip was over and we were home in VT i had this waiting for me at my doorstep. Love this product! Super easy to get on and off my Nikon D7100 with a 50mm prime lens or my 70-200mm. I'm often out in all weather conditions with my camera so having something that keeps it safe is key. This shell was it! It's very well made construction wise. Love the look and feel of the material in hand as well!
Great to have this in the winter
I bought this to protect my camera under the snow. That works great but that would be greater if there is a hole or a way to look at the view finder while still covering the screen.
Misleading size guide chart
Mirrorless with telephoto lens should be advise to get larger one. The chart is misleading for inexperienced customer
Great but v2 needs to be better
I bought the small based on the sizing chart for a Sony A1 mirrorless camera. It's very, very tight with a 24-70 2.8 and almost impossible to use with a 7--200 2.8. Honestly, v2 needs to have an updated correct sizing chart, and some kind of clear viewing panel so you can view the back of your cameras LCD panel. That being said I did put this over when I was shooting in a downpour and it kept my camera dry. Also, the shell itself dries extremally fast and folds into itself which is extremely convenient. I would definitely wait for a v2 before picking up a shell.
Not Disappointed
I bought the Small shell for my Olympus OMD-EM1 mirrorless. Was quite concern about choosing the right size. Perhaps if PD adds in dimension numbers, max L x W x H, would help more. Love the material. Fortunate even with the 75x300 lens the Shell provides a good fit. Have not taken it out yet due to the vivid-19 situation, but I go on cruises couple of times a year. Have ran into wet weather situations as well as with moisture mist from water fall (Iguazu Falls). This Shell will come into use. Takes some patience to put it on/off. But not complaining.
