Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

good price and good when used fresh. Packs down small into the inside of one pocket. but not giving this 5 stars for the following reasons: after several years of use, the Gore-Tex started to separate from the exterior shell. In the rain, this now soaks my arms. All other seams and stitching has held up, just down by the cuffs is no good.
I thought I was buying a good quality product. But after using for two years the waterproof coating on the inside of the jacket is flaking off around the collar and at the cuffs. I see little flakes of the lining all over the floor of my car and on my clothes. Rather disappointed with the durability. Also a lot of moisture builds up inside the inside the jacket. After wearing the jacket while walking the fleece I wear under it is often very wet, even with pit zippers open. I liked the light weight of it, but the flaking liner and excessive amount of moisture trapped inside means I will be putting this one in the garbage after only two years.
Jacket was great the first few years. The liner in the jacket and hood then began to breakdown like it dry rotted. The liner in the hood and jacket began to flake away leaving flakes on your clothes and in your hair.
Have worn this while hiking in the rain a couple times now, and it has not kept me dry. Most recently, I wore it out on a 2 hour hike, during which it was only raining part of the time, maybe 1 hour, and was raining heavily for less than that, maybe only half an hour. Under the rain coat I was wearing a puffy jacket and a long-sleeve t-shirt. When I got back, the outer layer of my puffy jacket was completely soaked, but my t-shirt was dry, so I know for sure that the water was from the rain coat letting water through and not from me sweating in it. My sister was with me and had a high-end Boathouse rain coat, which did not soak through under identical rain conditions. Fortunately on this occasion the puffy jacket kept me from getting soaked, but on another occasion when I wore this jacket it also soaked through and left me drenched. This coat may be sufficiently waterproof if you mostly wear it in light rain or for short durations (e.g. going from the car to a store or something else around town), but for any kind of serious outdoor activity where you will be in heavy rain for more than a few minutes or light rain for more than an hour, I definitely cannot recommend this.
I bought this jacket to use for my shell for backpacking and working in Wilderness Therapy. We can get some serious monsoons in Colorado, and I wanted to get something that I could layer over my puffy, and be longer so I went with the Men's. It's awesome as a shell for your layering system, but even when it was new, it wet out on me in steady rain. Sheds light rain okay. One other thing that was annoying for me as a woman is that the placement of the velcro by the collar consistently made my braids get caught in it. Likely not a problem for most guys buying this, but it's a thing if you have long hair.
I’ve had the product for a little over 2 years and the 1st year it worked fine but I noticed a lot of peeling at the interior lining after about a year and now the lining is shredded up especially near the arms. I would not recommend this product.
I rarely ever write reviews but felt it was important to share my feedback since I'm one of those consumers who usually makes buying decisions off of product ratings. I've always been very happy with REI Co-op branded products, however, I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of this jacket. I purchased this jacket yesterday and wore it for the first time today to shovel snow. After a few short pulls on the snow blower, I noticed a pretty sizable hole had opened up on the front right pocket. I was pretty frustrated in the product at this point but I decided to press on anyways. After about an hour and a half of shoveling in ~20 mph winds and pretty heavy snow/freezing rain, my mid-layer was completely soaked almost all the way through. Luckily I had multiple layers on so I wasn't totally soaked but when I say the waterproof factor on this jacket is laughable, I mean it. Other than the jacket being completely non-functional, it fits great and allows ample room for layering without appearing bulky. Again, I had high hopes but it did not live up to my expectations.
This jacket is my 4 season rain shell. At 6'2" 225 lbs. the XL is cut just right with room for layers yet not too over-sized to wear by itself in warm weather. The outer fabric is smooth, not crinkly. The collar is lined with a micro-fleece and very comfortable. I like how the neck protector works. It tucks out of the way when not in use but easily deploys into position when needed. The inner liner material is light and soft. Also has a hem cinch, hood adjustment, and armpit zips. My only criticisms are minor; the hood has a short bill that kind of flops on my forehead and the collar is bulky and uneven when the hood is tucked away. This jacket compares to several more expensive models.
Walked 100 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain in October. This jacket performed very well and was used during 2 days of heavy rain, and 2 days of light drizzle & wind. It kept me very dry and comfortable and is easy to wear a backpack and still have range of motion. The arm pit vents helped prevent me from getting overly sweaty inside. The hood is adjustable in the back and around the face, which is really handy. I do recommend wearing a hat underneath for best visibility with the long visor. It was great to have the velcro straps at the wrists to tighten and prevent water from running inside while I used my hiking poles. It also provided an excellent barrier to wind. This is a very versatile and well thought out jacket which will be a staple for all of my future backpacking/hiking/outdoor adventures. BONUS: It stuffs into the left pocket and zips up into a handy packet for easy storage in your bag or backpack.
I just picked one up today, haven't had a chance to test it out. WARNING: Don't buy online, go in-store! I'm a 6-0' 200 lbs dude who always wears large-sized jackets and shirts, I ended up buying the small size as it was the best fit. Initial comments: I also have an earlier REI jacket from 2016 and the design is effectively unchanged. Stitching and seams are good quality, very light-weight yet durable. I did like the interior elastic band on the wrists from the previous, however this feature unfortunately did not carry over the Rainer Rain Jacket. Instead it has a soft liner around the collar which I imagine will prove to be useful.
