Very Compact, Lightweight Crampons.
These are extremely nice Crampons. I got this for a mountaineering school in Germany and we used them on glacier walks and for one summit involving a glacier traverse, and rock/ice scrambling. I love how small and light they are, and the carrying bag included is perfect. I literally just threw these into my bag and the bag kept the spikes from destroying my stuff. ONE WARNING: The aluminum rear is nowhere near as durable as the front. When we were scrambling on rocks/ice the tips were completely dulled by the end. Granted, this is not what they are meant for, but beware. Also, I don't know if Petzl has any sort of way to buy replacement backs.
Great light weight crampons
These are great crampons for southeast Alaska where the approach might involve miles of dense canopy with little snow. I've paired them with both light mountaineering boots and AT ski boots and they feel solid with both. Pros: Super compact and lightweight. Cons: The wire toe piece is a little difficult to change out with the basket. This is a minor issue and likely intended.
Versatile Light Weight Crampon
I have been extremely impressed with these crampons. They are extremely light, pack down small, and have worked well with every pair of mountaineering and ski boots I've paired them with. I was initially worried about using the 'cord-tec' system with the universal toe bail but I have had zero issues with fit or unintentional release. They are perfect for moderate glacier travel and even perform well on steep snow and neve. I also own the Petzl Vasak and Lynx. I now use these in place of the Vasak on most trips and only use the Lynx for actual ice climbing. I would not try to use the Irvis Hybrids ice climbing. Boots that I've tried these crampons with with zero problems: Scarpa Alien (wire toe bail) Dynafit TLT 7 (universal toe bail) La Sportiva Trango S Evo (universal toe bail) La Sportiva Batura 2.0 (universal and wire toe bail)
