Good overall harness
This harness is great for beginners getting into the sport, it's lightweight, it has all the basics you need without all the frills that come with the higher price tag. It feels well built, and I felt safe hanging in it. It fit well-- I am 5'9" and 115 lbs, I got the extra small. They provide the waist and leg circumference which is very helpful. Really the only complaint I had was the leg loops were not adjustable, though they did have elastic to give it some stretch, and I suppose it's one less thing to break with extended use. Just pay attention to the measurements to make sure you get the right size and you shouldn't have a problem. Overall I recommend!
Review from a Curvy Woman
Curvy 5'4"/175lbs - got a L. I like the waistbelt on this harness because it's wide, padded, and comfortable (like me!). I've taken some good whippers and must say I'm pleased with the comfort of the harness. My old harness's buckle was off to one side which drove me nuts because it pulls my harness to a side so I'm finding the location of the buckle on the Solution Harness a plus. The only reason that I wouldn't give this harness a 5/5 stars is because there is no option to adjust the leg loops. Gear loops and belay loops are pretty standard - but as a recreational climber do you really want crazy?
Keeping it Light
An all-around really lovely sport climbing harness. The waist and leg loops are both exceedingly comfortable to sit in as far as harnesses go. The belt is very secure when fastened but not at all difficult to loosen when removing. The gear loops, belay loop, and tie-in loops are all well-constructed - the stitches are secure and the whole set up is sleek like a sports car but without the associated costs of actually being a sports car. The haul loop is kind of small and it would be nice to have two more gear loops, but if you’re not spending all day errday on big wall trad, I wouldn’t be too interested in the extra bells and whistles found on a heavier workhorse harness. I’m 5’5 (1.67 m), 122 lbs (55.4 kg) and the small is an exemplary fit for my dimensions. The leg loops aren’t adjustable but there’s for sure some generous give to them (elastic) if my legs were to expand outwards. I like that the belt has plenty of extra room to expand so I can wear my puffiest of puffies while belaying and still feel locked in. I like this little harness a lot and would highly recommend if you're looking for something lightweight and comfortable for the crag/gym.
Great all around harness - Leg loops didn't fit
I'm a long time user of the Black Diamond Primrose (now Momentum). Though it is lighter weight and less bulky feeling, the Solution harness didn't have the adjustable leg loops which I personally enjoy being a more slender individual (5'3", 120 lbs) - the leg loops just didn't fit and thus didn't feel comfortable while hanging. I also tend to enjoy the extra comfort from padding around the waist/leg loops while doing longer climbing, which the Momentum didn't have. If you're looking for lightweight and breathable harness though, this is a great harness for the price.
Average harness
I’d say this is a decent all around harness. Pros: it’s simple, lightweight but surprisingly comfortable, and fits well. Cons: small gear loops, wouldn’t be comfortable for hanging in on long days, non adjustable leg loops. This harness also runs small. Could fit in a medium but with a gap between the waistbelt. This would be a great harness for sport or gym climbing, but doesn’t have the added features needed for trad or big days. The gear loops don’t stick out far enough and are just small in general, even for quick draws and biners. Overall better than expected though
Comfortable, light, might run small
I bought this to replace my old black diamond harness that was over 10 years old. This harness provides all the things I need for route climbing in the gym. It’s light and really comfortable to sit on the wall with and to belay. I used the online measurements to choose which size to buy, but when I received my small harness it pinched my upper thighs uncomfortably while sitting or belaying. So, I sized up to a medium, whose measurements were slightly larger than my measurements and now it’s incredibly comfortable while still fitting my waist. So, I’d recommend trying on in the store first to see if you should size up.
Self-Adjusting Leg Loops
I've worn this harness both inside the gym and outside for single-pitch and multi-pitch climbs. I am 5'7", 145 lbs, and wear a medium-sized harness. I often have an issue with finding pants or harnesses that fit my smaller hips and larger thighs, but this harness has the stretch and retraction to fit comfortable around my legs in the gym or for single-pitch routes. The harness is light and folds nicely into my backpack. Unfortunately, the leg loops are thin and lack padding, so sitting in my harness for long periods of time or on multi-pitch routes felt uncomfortable if I wasn't in the perfect position. It felt like hte harness was cutting into my thigh. Overall, the harness is good for every day gym use, but I would not recommend it for longer multi-pitch routes.
Almost, but not quite.
Got this after a Petzel didn’t work out for me. I love how packable and lightweight this harness is, but the elastic on the leg straps is wearing out after only having the harness for ~7 months. Not having the adjustable leg straps puts more strain on the elastic pieces and wears quicker. I also find it significantly less comfortable to be seated in when working on difficult projects. The straps definitely cut into your thighs. It was certainly a step up from the Petzl I had, but isn’t really the solution I was looking for (pun intended, I suppose). A bit disappointed with the quick wear on the harness and will be looking for one with adjustable leg straps moving forward.
Light & Comfortable
I initially was really impressed with this harness. It is very light and hardly feels like you're wearing a harness. I found myself leaving it on even when taking a break. Be very mindful of the sizing, specifically in the legs because the leg straps are elastic and NOT ADJUSTABLE. With my regular leggings it was a good fit, but with tights I felt that I could've used a little tighter fit to avoid the leg loops sliding up and/or loops folding. It is good quality, but I'm interested to see if the elastic in the legs hold up over time. (I'm 5'6, 130lbs, muscular/hourglass shape - ordered a size S, I have another black diamond harness which is also a size S.) Aesthetically it is stylish and sleek, it also came with a nice little bag to protect and store it in. It folds up and stores very nicely if you like to travel light and keep organized like me!
Comfy and lightweight
Love this harness so far! I got it to replace my 9 year old Black Diamond hardness and maaaaan! You can really tell the difference in the tech in climbing gear over the last decade. It’s super light weight and way more comfy than my old harness. I love the color scheme too. I’m a 5’ woman weighing in at 120lbs of mostly muscle and a size Small fits my 27” waist perfectly.
