Waist button will not stay snapped. Shorts feel comfortable but there useless without the waist snap staying together.
I got my first pair for a trip to Costa Rica - was told I needed quick drying hiking shorts because of the rain and humidity. I am addicted to them now and just got my 3rd pair. Unlike other reviewers I have never had a problem with the snap - not once. Since Covid I’ve been working from home and literally wear one of the 3 pair every single day except in the dead of winter. They look good, they’re slim, they wash easily, they have that great phone pocket and 2 small zipper pockets as well. Besides wearing them while working I use them for my biking shorts and for hiking. These have been the best shorts I’ve ever owned and I’m super happy with them.
These shorts held promise, but the unconventional and insecure snap attachment at the waistband ruins it for me. Maybe a quality control issue, but the snap on this pair would not hold the slightest tension. Would not buy again.
I’ve had these shorts for about six weeks and have worn them many times. The shorts are made well, as you would expect, and the fabric is light and dries fast. I was surprised that the fabric doesn’t wrinkle easily nor stretch out, still look good for a second day wearing. My only concern is that these shorts don’t have the interior button that all my other Khul shorts have. I miss that feature in these shorts.
I’ve owned a number of Kuhl shorts and slacks over the years; this is the first one I’m disappointed in. Fit is nice and the look is good, but the snap closure is a big loser. Previous Kuhl products I’ve owned have had both a button internally (I don’t know the proper term for this, but it fastens internally) and a snap. These shorts have only a snap, which is lacking. The fit and look is good, but once I brought them home, washed them and wore them, the snap was inadequate - popping open with any movement. I actually returned the original shorts thinking that I’d gotten a lemon (thanks REI), but in reality, the replacement pair were no better (sorry REI). I compared the snap on this pair to others that I have and they’re not the same. Either there’s a design change or a miss in manufacturing. Bottom line - I’ve liked Kuhl goods for years, this design or the snap itself needs to be improved.
Love this material and the Kuhl brand. I have nearly destroyed one pair of shorts m, but it took many years of scurrying up chimneys and sliding down scree fields to do so. I bought these as a replacement. Front snap won’t stay closed. Did I put on THAT much weight? (Answer no: I bought these big — the clasp just doesn’t “bite” very hard). Hope it’s just a one-off problem. The price is too high for errors like this
I bought a pair of these shorts before a trip to Red Rock canyon country in Sedona, AZ where I planned to hike and mountain bike. I do not like big cargo shorts with huge pockets and gave these a try. Not only are they super comfortable and wearable, but they have great non-obtrusive pockets and have enough style to wear out to a casual dinner. I am going to buy another pair. One of the best purchases I have made.
I am the hugest fan of Kuhl. Have been wearing their clothes constantly for a decade. Shorts, pants, shirts, fleeces. Everything is well made w/ attention to detail and lasts a long time. I love their products. The one issue I have had in the past is with this snap button. Every now and then it will pop open. I read in reviews there were a lot of complaints about this but it hasn't been a huge problem for me before. This latest pair of shorts will *not* stay buttoned. I can feel that the button is machined so so loosely that breathing the wrong way pop it open. I've been wearing them for an hour or so and they fit great but no joke they've come undone at least 50 times. It just depends on if I'm moving or not. We're talking like 10 grams of pressure and it releases. I think a belt would help but I can't bring myself to pay this kind of money for shorts that won't even stay buttoned. Kuhl -- Help! I love you!! What are you thinking? Fix these buttons please!!!
I am literally wearing them right now. Whether hiking or lounging, these are the perfect shorts. When you live in a place where it is 100 degrees plus 4 months a year lite and versatile is all that matters!
I was in desperate need to find a new pair of shorts that would work for traveling. They needed to fit well, dry fast, and be able to dress up a bit with a polo after a day of hiking. I found my new favorite in the Kuhl Silencer short. Lots of pockets but still having a slim profile was a huge bonus. They dried wicked fast after a rainstorm in St. Lucia and I wore them several times throughout the week and they never got wrinkled. I did see there were several complaints about the top clasp of the short but I have not had any issues with that at all. I will definitely be buying another pair in a different color
