Love it! Light & compact to stuff in your bag.

I initially used this as a liner for my motorcycle jacket on an off-road packing trip through the Rockies in Colorado. I was able to pack this on my bike and use it when the sun dropped, during camping at night, and then in the morning ride until it warmed up. This jacket took up no space but provided a great deal of warmth. I am 5'10 and 190 lbs. This athletic fit of the jacket made it a nice liner without any bunching up. I since then wear it out as a nice jacket in and out of the car, hiking, or going out on the town. Versatile and great looking.

I really like the look of this jacket - kind of retro and funky. Was excited to purchase but after wearing it once it started to shed feathers….also, I wore to a hockey game at a fairly cold arena and even with a thick hoody and t shirt underneath I was still freezing. Probably more of a spring or fall jacket; not warm enough for Ohio winters.

Perfect Jacket for Everyday Wear

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket recently and yes, this is my fifth Ares Jacket purchased! Perfect for everyday wear. Looks great when wearing to work and a great looking jacket when out socially. Nobody wants an overly heavy jacket with everyday use and this jacket allows you to sit comfortably in your vehicle with not getting too warm and manages the cold when outside heading into work, the store, or family/friends home. What always catches my eye are the retro designs and the associated color patterns. Basically this jacket keeps you warm, looks great, and is a great value. That is why I keep coming back to Marmot and keep wearing this jacket!

Nice all around everyday jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own two of these jackets in different color combos. I'm 5 ft 10, 34" waist and about 180 lb and a large fits perfectly. Fairly lightweight and looks stylish enough to wear to the office in a business casual setting. I own much warmer down jackets and much more technical ones but the Ares is a great all around grab and go jacket for everyday wear. Warm enough for 80% of the cold weather we encounter in the Carolinas. I like the shiny look of the older version of this jacket better than the satin finish on the new one so I bought a 2nd on sale to add to my collection. I bought my first Ares about 7 years ago and it's holding up well.

Warm and well built

I had a Patagonia down "sweater" jacket that wasn't warm enough. So I tried the Ares hoping it would provide the warmth I wanted. This jacket feels a million times better than the Patagonia. The shell is more substantial and the pockets are lined. Oh yeah, and it is definitely plenty warm! It isn't a bulky jacket either and the Angel Arm thing is a nice touch. Had it in a snow, with howling winds and sub freezing temps and with only a fleece pullover, and a long sleeve thermal shirt I was sweating and had to unzip. I'm 5'9" and 155#'s. Bottom line it's awesome. Does get wet if subjected to massive amounts of moisture but was still warm. Recommend.

A Good Looking, Retro Puffer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is wel-constructed, looks super-cool, and has a great price. I have the red/blue one, and can’t wait to wear it - and I hate the winter!

Comfortable, Light Weight, Small Footprint, Warm

This jacket was exactly what I was looking for. I live in North Alabama, where Winter weather may swing from the 30s in the morning to nearly 70 in the afternoon. This jacket kept me warm on the coldest and wettest days of this past winter. Since the jacket is packable and has a small footprint, it's super easy to carry along with me on days where it has gotten too warm to continue to wear - as well as being easy to carry along on a warm day, in anticipation of a cold evening. The jacket it stylish and I have gotten multiple compliments on it (even from my friends who poke fun at me for wearing 'puffy coats'). I'm 6'2 and ~220 lbs (long torso) - the XL fits me perfectly. So far I am loving it and would definitely buy again.

Good but not exceptional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my ares jacket just in time for the cold snap of winter. And I can attest to the warmth this lightweight guy brings to the party. It. Is. Warm. As far as fit goes I wish I’d gone and gotten my usual large size instead of being talked into a medium for the sake of layering. It was a good fit still I just prefer a looser feel. The jacket is super light weight I barely noticed I had it on. My biggest complaint would be the super thin material that seemed to snag on everything and leave scars all over. Utilities wise? It’s a very good jacket.

Worked perfect!

We took this on a 5 day hike through the New Zealand Milford Track. Lots of rain and wet. But I was super warm and really appreciated that little bit of water resistance. I wouldn’t use it as a rain jacket, but you can certainly pack it easy into your bag. Nice.

Dog Walking Jacket Review

I primarily wear this while walking my dogs in DC. We cover about 6 miles a day and are outside about an hour at a time, morning and night. Moderate activity level. I’m 5’9” and 185lbs with an athletic build and the medium fits well. I’ve worn it from the low 30s with a few layers underneath to the low 60s with just a t-shirt. Gets super warm when it’s zipped up, but vents heat quickly. Good with wind. Less good with rain, but I don’t expect it to be. Really versatile and sharp design.
