I've had two of these hats for over 10 years. Got them to wear doing fieldwork from sea level to alpine conditions. The sun protection is excellent, they are comfortable to wear all day, the cords on each on have stood up to this use and are easy to adjust, wearing it either behind the neck or fastened at the throat if the wind is fierce. They wash up well in the machine (cold water) and air dry beautifully, holding their shape. What's not to like?

I hike a lot in all kinds of weather. I have this hat in white and red and bought it to keep the sun out. It does that very well and it is a nice looking hat. I have a very small head and most hats are too big for me. This one fits fine although the brim is very wide. I am a very small person so it almost too wide on me but should be fine for most. My one complaint is I do not find it very breathable. In high temperatures (90s), it is uncomfortably hot. Other than that a nice sun hat.

The hat was folded diagonally when it was shipped. I cannot get the brim to hang right. I will return and reorder to see if I get one that is not folded.

I wore this hat when my husband and I took a trip on a Mississippi riverboat from Memphis to New Orleans. When I was in Baton Rouge a woman stopped to tell me how much she admired my OR hat. She said she had been looking at it when we were both on the riverboat. Also had a stranger say "Nice hat!" when I walked by while in Memphis. Although the brim makes it a little awkward to lean back in a chair, I find that the light weight of the hat and its complete sun coverage are its most attractive features. This is my third OR wide-brimmed hat. Others have been complimented also. I always provide the name of the company.

I've purchased 11 of these hats in red or fuchsia, and wear them for sea kayaking. They provide great sun protection, the bright color makes me more easily seen, they stay on in high winds with the chin strap, and also stay on when rolling the boat. This color does fade from constant exposure to sun and salt water, which is the only reason I buy new ones. Otherwise, they're made to last. The 12th hat is turquoise, for wearing off the water.

I like being able to have different sizes available in hats, (not all hats fit the same). I got this one in a "M" and it it very comfortable. Especially love the extra wide brim in the back and the flower print on the underside.

I received this hat a few weeks ago and I wear it absolutely everywhere! It's so lightweight and the brim is definitely nice and wide and gives great sun protection. I have such a hard time finding sun hats that are not "one size fits all" and that I don't have to squeeze over my head, so I was sold when I saw that it came in a large size. I will add that the brim does tend to get a little misshapen, but that's inevitable when traveling with it. It can flatten again out pretty easily. Overall, a great hat. Look forward to keeping it for many years.

Another adorable ladies hat from OR that fits larger heads. I purchased this one along with the Delray Sun Hat (see my review) and decided to keep both. This one will be great for the baking hot summers of the BC interior, and the draw cord at the back will let me tighten as needed for windy days. I purchased a Large (my head measurement, measured loosely, is 23.5") and it's perfect. I did try an XL but it was clearly too large. Cinching the draw cord made the brim bend in a weird way, but if you have a head measurement of about 24" go with the XL. I also like that this hat will float and has a dark underbrim which is great for glare. You also can't beat the pricing. I also own a Tilley but find their hats just way too hot for our summer temps.

My dad bought this hat at REI last year and he loved it so much he insisted I pass on his review. He uses the hat for gardening, which in the TN summer is hot, muggy, and SUNNY. He bought a large size women's hat, which matches his large men's hat size. The wide brim (4") provides great sun protection. The dome is breathable and light enough to keep you cool in the humid hot south. The sweat band keeps all but the worst sweat out of your eyes. If you are looking for a hat to go with your carrot and cabbage picking, this is the way to go.

This hat is great! When buying another one, I compared this size to the size chart, and although my head is 22.5 inches, I see I bought a Large, which fits perfectly. It is great to find a summer hat for my big head! When walking outside, the wind catches it, but that is to be expected, and the chin strap holds my hat. I am buying the bucket hat for when I want to drive, but I don't expect a big brimmed hat to work in the car. I love how big the brim is and I think it is super cute, too. The best part is - no more sunburns!
