I replaced old 3-pin bindings with these and was able to reuse most of the mounting holes. The only issue I’m having is getting into them. They’re not step in. Skiing with them was great going uphill. I missed some of the stability I used to get with the old Nordic Norm bindings while snowplowing and turning going downhill. I need a lesson.
These bindings work great and we were able to mount them on our skis without professional help, as there is really none nearby anyway. I have used them the past 3 days the they are fantastic.
I brough a pair of Epoke 700 that I purchase in 1978. Love the skies and the young man, (can't remember his name either) was very professional and quick. Skis were done as promised several days later. I thought it was cool no one tried to sell me new skis when they knew I liked my old ones. Great Job REI Employees.
I was unable to find NNN bindings anywhere in January; REI had them and installed them.
I x-country ski just a few times a year. I liked my 20-year-old + wax less x-country skis but my 3 pin shoes wore out. I had our local ski shop replace the old 3 pin bindings with the Rottefella and bought new shoes. A small area of the new binding is just a tiny bit wider than the ski but doesn't seem to be a problem. So far, I'm happy with it.
I bought these bindings to replace some older bindings that were not NNN bindings. I mounted then myself. The instructions were minimal, and assumed that you have the jig from Rottefella. It would have been very nice to at least have a template for hole location. I spent a lot of time drilling accurate holes. There is no snow this year, so testing on the trail was impossible. But the mechanism worked well and the bindings seem solidly made.
I had bindings put on my cross country skies because I needed new boots and nothing fit my bindings. So they installed the bindings and I bought new boots, now I have to wait for the snow.
Incompatible with the skiis I bought on-line (IFP mount) - at least the return at the store was easy. Information on matching this stuff on REI site is sketchy, although there was something in the Q&A about screw-in bindings. I should have just gone to a ski shop. A local shop doesn't even sell separate bindings because of the various combinations of mounts and bindings.
Installed these Rottefella NNN classic cross-country ski bindings onto my pair of older Karhu Kick skis recently, and the installation was very easy to do. All parts are included in the box. Haven't had any issues out on the trails yet!
