Amazing craftsmanship and incredibly warm

I needed to replace a 10 year old winter jacket and did a bit of research online before I came into REI. I tried on quite a few from Columbia, North Face Arctic Parka, Marmot Georgina, etc. and I initially wrote Fjallraven off my list and wasn’t even going to try this jacket on since I knew it would eventually require waxing maintenance. I’m so glad I did try it on because there was no comparison between this to any of the other jackets I tried on. It was SO MUCH WARMER than the others, had a well thought out design with quality construction and tons of pockets. Yes it may be a little bit more than I was hoping to spend, but I can tell this jacket is going to last for a long time. I live in Denver and it can get quite chilly here and in the mountains, and this jacket has been great so far in dry and windy 15F temps even without layering.

Wanted to love it

This was exactly what I wanted: warm, heavy, long. The problem from the get go was the zipper - was very hard to line up and zip. Now is broken, after 2 weeks of use. For the price, shouldn’t be a challenge to zip

Didn't Even Notice Winter Happened

We had an unusually long, cold winter in St. Louis, but I barely noticed because I was so comfortably warm in my Fjallraven Nuuk Parka. I typically wouldn't spend so much money on something i'll only wear for a few months out of a year, but I've never been happier with a big purchase. It's more of an investment. Fjallraven lives up to their high-quality reputation. The parka is heavy and roomy enough for a winter sweater underneath, but it still holds a nice feminine shape. All of the pockets are awesome. I hate wearing a purse with a winter coat/jacket, and i had no problem fitting all of my necessities in my pockets. I like that the "fur" lining is removable. Such a great parka! Hooray!

A very warm coat plus I figured out the zipper!

I read reviews of this code when I was looking to buy it at REI and I still bought it even though some people were unhappy with the zipper. I had the same problem and struggled with it for two months until one day I figured it out. It appears it’s made for a left-handed person but I could be wrong there. Anyway The left side is the female side and the right side is the male side. The trick is you cannot hold the left side by the base of the zipper at all or it will not go in. You basically have to just put the right side n by loosely holding the fabric not the zipper mechanism. Once I figure that out I get my zipper zipped up the first try every time! Besides all that this coat is incredibly warm compared to any other coat I’ve had and it covers to the mid thigh plus has lots of cool pockets. We just moved to South Dakota and our winter is about to begin so I am very grateful for this coat even though it was crazy expensive.

Perfect for those cold and rainy days

The past 7 years I have used the Fjällräven Greenland Parka as my winter coat, and it worked great if I added enough layers underneath to stay warm and coated it with the Greenland wax. But it is starting to show wear and tear so this year I decided to go with something that was water-repellent and had more insulation. The Nuuk Parka was the perfect solution. I live in Copenhagen and do lots of biking in the wind, rain and snow and I can tell you that after a 25 minute bike ride in sleet and high winds I am still dry and warm (sometimes even a bit too warm!). It fit all my criteria I had: warm, water-repellent, stylish and, best of all, you don't look like a big blob, the parka still gives you a pretty shape while doing all of the above.

Unusable zipper

this is a beautiful, high quality warm coat. we live in the colorado mountains and i purchased this as xmas present for my wife. we immediately have to return the coat as the zipper mechanism is TERRIBLE. Took each of us several minutes to zip the coat both indoors and outdoors. Doing so was difficult, frustrating and inconvenient in the freezing cold Some previous reviews noted a similar problem. The company replies were that nothing was run with the zippers. Well, you are wrong! Disappointing and unacceptable at this price point for the problem to be a zipper!! We are returning the coat and will buy from another company.

Even kept me warm!

I had realized just about this time last year I needed yet another winter coat. I went straight to REI, of course, and hoped to find something that wouldn't cost too much. I saw this coat, in red, my favorite color and couldn't take my eyes off of it. Still the price gave me pause, and I was looking at another coat for half the price. But when I saw the reviews on the other coat said it needed to be worn with layers I decided that was my sign! I bought this coat and about 2 months later we were hit by a month of snow, temp in the 20's with wind about 30mph. Normally I would have wanted to die. But this coat kept me so warm for once I wasn't miserable outside. Obviously not cheap, but when a person has to be out in the weather, no matter what the temperature, it was the smartest thing I have ever done

Best coat I've ever owned

I am that person who is always freezing. No more! This coat is a game-changer for me in being comfortable in cold-weather activities. It is comfortable, warm, loaded with pockets, and just gets the job of staying cozy done right. The sleeves are long, but for me this just adds warmth. The zipper is on the European side but it just takes a little time to train yourself to set the zip "backwards." The zipper itself is smooth. It has an elastic interior waist draw-string you can tighten to give it a little shape.

gorgeous coat

This coat is epic. So, so warm -- and the quality and details are exquisite. I ordered the yellow color, which seems a bit more like an "earthy mustard" color to me. I was hoping for a brighter yellow that really POPS. But I love the coat so much that I simply exchanged it for a black one. This coat runs a little big. I'm 5'8", 150 lbs with 40" hips. A small fits me well and evens leaves room for a layer or two. I think this coat will last for years!

Warmest Coat In the World

I bought this coat for my trip to Antarctica. It is no joke the warmest coat ever. Even if you are just holding it! It is really good for extreme cold. There are lots of exterior and interior pockets. The interior is super soft and comfortable. This jacket is proof that you can have a comfortable, warm jack that is not down filled.

It warms and love it

I put 4 out 5: First, I don’t have a car, but I am always traveling on public transportation and riding a scooter in NYC. I was looking for a good, insulated jacket. I was reading the reviews about the Fjallraven to compare other jackets. Second, unfortunately this jacket doesn’t give me an option petite size. So, I ordered size XS, see if it fits. It little bit too big but it’s okay. Third, I have to say this is incredibly well insulated, keeps, it blocks the wind, it is very warm, and a hood that provides excellent warmth as well as coverage.
