Ive had these a little over a month and they have several place the seem has come loose or is fraying. They are comfortable, water resistant, and look good. The quality is lacking though.
I have worn these pants quite a lot since buying them, including on two airplane rides and one three and a half hour car ride, and I am really happy with them. They stretch without looking like stretchy pants, I like the taper, and I think they look really good. I could wear these to my work as a teacher, but then I can also go for a hike in them. They have held up well so far, but I have not gone bushwhacking or done any kind of serious trail use in them. I hope they hold up. I just received the second pair I bought. For me I think they fit pretty true to size. Very, very happy with these pants. I just wish that they came in additional colors as well.
The pants are nicely made and look very good they should look good in a casual office or outside. So, why only one star? The sizing seems really off. I have several pairs and styles of Kuhl pants and the 36 X 32 has always fit well. I read the reviews and ordered a 38 X 32. The pants are actually a little baggy but the waist is very tight and there is absolutely no give. I’m not sure what pattern Kuhl is using for these but it definitely seems flawed to me. I realize Kuhl has different fits but this fit seems very odd. I strongly suggest that you not purchase them unless you can try them on in a store, otherwise you will likely have to return them.
Took these on a 80-mile hike in the Scottish Highlands. Fit was great (had a slim cut look and was stylish while functional). Even with the more slim fit, it was flexible and felt comfy (I have thick ox thighs and find most pants too restrictive) even on long hikes. Water Resistant but not waterproof. Was great when it was drizzling lightly. However, in heavy rain, it didn't stay waterproof for more than 30 minutes. Dried quickly, and was ready to go again in an hour (on the heater). As I live in LA, will be using this on winter hikes (which means 73 degree hikes in the sun). Also, these could serve as my golf pants if needed.
Overall I love these pants. I've used them mainly for travel and every day casual wear. The fit is good for me (somewhat skinny). I like they have the slanted pockets (i really don;t like jeans-type pockets). They look a bit like business casual so they can be used in a variety of situations. My only gripe is that the fabric does not seem extremely durable. For the price, these may not last too long, especially if used for hiking or extended travel, or washed very often. Mine got snagged on something and I got 2 small loops sticking out - fortunately I was able to pull the thread to the back side so the damage it not visible. Nevertheless, I would buy these again.
This was my first pair of hiking pants and I'm seriously impressed by the quality. I bought these to hike around Bryce Canyon NP and Zion NP in February. Not only are these incredibly easy to move in but they also were breathable and dealt with snow quite well. Snow and water have no effect on these pants from my experience so that was huge. The material and stitching seems very durable as well. I wore these when I hiked Angel's Landing in Zion and there was no restriction in movement. Another bonus is that they look great! They're girlfriend approved lol. It's a more tapered fit so you can easily wear these around town and they don't scream hiking pants.
These are the best hiking pants I own. Super stretchy and comfortable. I wanted a pair of pants that can double as an everyday, around town pant in addition to hiking...something that doesn't look so much like a hiking pant. These more than fit the bill. They also bead water really well. After calling Kuhl to ask where I could order additional colors, I was informed that this is a special REI exclusive. It isn't even on Kuhl's website. REI, please request additional colors!! I'd buy a couple more for sure
I normally don't do reviews and I was hesitant to get these pants due to the price, but these are excellent pants. They have nice water repellent features, I have not had them in a hard rain as of yet but the water beads well and brushes off easily. The flexibility is excellent and retains at the waist when bending over or down to pick things up. The fabric feels great next to the skin, soft and light. the pants I got look great in a casual work environment and allows you to head out for a hike soon afterwards. The phone pocket on the lower right rear of the leg is perfect for a phone, it stays off you seat and out of the way still making it easy to reach for photos on the trail.
I gotta say, I normally don’t pay much for clothes in general... but these pants are totally worth the price (yeah I’m cheap so what). I’m 5’9” 155lb and the 30-30 fit incredibly well. It’s always hard for me to find pants that fit being a shorter slim dude, but these fit the bill. The tapered bottom seals the deal - no flare bottoms like you find on a lot of other adventure pants. I wear these climbing (indoor and out), fly fishing, hiking/backpacking, and just out on the town. It’s actually kinda funny, but I’ve had about 5-6 people ask if the pants were Lulu. If you are a skinny dude looking for some pants that can literally do it all and actually have a slim fit (for once) - look no further.
As advertised. This is the second pair I have worn. They are indestructible and comfortable. Thought I would wear the first pair for a year before I reviewed. They are flexible and cool. Fit is right. Breathable. Can wear multiple days without too much stink. Easy wash and dry...Literally 8-9 minutes in the dryer. Have dried on the trail in in the sun 60 degree weather in under one hour just in case you do something stupid. No defects at all in one year on my first pair. Not even a pulled seam and I have put at least 200 back country miles miles on them. Bought them to fit BUT if you need to have base layer the stretchy material accommodates without binding you up
