The clip is horrible
The quality of the elastic belt is great, unfortunately the clip design is horrible. The plastic clip tends to get stuck in the belt loop. It’s hard once you’re trying to get through the second or third belt loop. Adjusting the belt is almost impossible, the width of the clip is about 2mm smaller than the width of the actual belt. I can see the belt clip eventually breaking when adjusting.
Great idea...iffy execution
I received an Arcade belt from REI to evaluate. The belt has several strengths, but also a couple weaknesses. First, the strengths: it is very comfortable, thanks to the stretchy material and smooth finish. The buckle, although thin, seems to be durable and doesn't dig into my belly when seated...always a plus. The belt does a great job of holding my pants up, which is what a belt is supposed to do. The weaknesses are minor, but still present. First, adjusting the belt on the fly is incredibly difficult at best. After adjusting to the rough length, the stretch in the belt takes care of minor fit issues. If you need to adjust the belt further, however, there are two issues. One is that the loose "tag end" of the belt is on the underside when threaded through the buckle properly. There's simply no way to grab it and tug. Second, the belt material fits VERY tightly through the buckle. I have to remove the belt and wrestle with it to make any larger adjustments. I have noticed a couple of snags on the belt edges. I burned two off with a lighter but left the third for including as a photo in this review. The edges of the belt are not as tightly woven, leaving them prone to getting snagged. Whether these snags compromise the durability of the belt remains to be seen. Overall, I like the belt -- it is functional and quite stylish. I had no issues threading the buckle through belt loops, unlike several other reviewers here. Time will tell about the durability of the belt. The adjustments remain an issue...sort of annoying, but not a dealbreaker.
Poor quality control
I found this belt in a different store and decided to order it from REI. When belt arrived I was very disappointed in the quality. The belt I received should be outlet quality. The belt pictured online and what I saw in person had the leather square to the side of the tree design. On the belt that arrived, the square is covering part of the design. I know this product can be better designed, because I only saw them in person looking as advertised. It is still functional, but would expect something that didn't have quality control in the basic design, might not meet other quality expectations.
Great All-Around Belt
This has been my go-to daily belt for a couple years now. It's low-profile, comfortable, and stretchy. The stretch is perfect to allow you to bend and move while maintaining a great belt "tension". It is a little wider than a typical leather belt, making it more difficult to fit into every pair of shorts/pants I own, but it fits really well with outdoor specific clothing. Over the years I've been wearing this belt is has not been damaged or deformed and it holds it's length really well. I've never had to resize the belt because it slips. I'm glad that this newer belt is exactly the same quality as the belt I've been using for years.
The Perfect Belt
As someone who spends 70+ days a year with a backpack hipbelt on my waist, I have always wanted a belt that lies this flat, is this lightweight, and is easily adjustable. THIS belt also happens to be stretchy. I found this in a bin while strolling through REI one day, not even shopping for a belt. Two years later, this belt has comfortably held my hiking pants up on over 100 adventures (scrambles, backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, backpacking, etc) and still doesnt stink. Durable, low profile, lightweight, solid. The best adventure belt, period.
plumber's crack forever gone
i bought this belt because my pants fall down, sometimes at not the right moment. yikes ! the compression on the belt keeps my derriere from seeing daylight. it is hard to adjust as infinitely adjustable to the correct setting, but once done it stays there with never any further messing with it at all. bottom line .... i REALLY like it, and so do those who are now missing my backyard cleavage.
My New Favorite Belt!
I'm a belt person. The only time I don't wear a belt is if I don't have any belt loops. And this belt is my new favorite. I love the stretch and how it adjusts with me through the day whether I'm hiking or bingeing on tacos and beer! The buckle is thin and doesn't get snagged on anything yet is also durable. The dark red color brings a pop to everything I wear, and the little trees are a nice touch. I can wear this when flying without having to take it off in security. This belt is a fabulous addition to my current belt wardrobe.
Most comfortable and versatile belt ever made!
This belt turns ever pair of pants into a pair of pajama pants. Every belt that I have owned before I.e. leather, or canvas did not give me the freedom of bending and crouching while also remaining tight on my hips throughout the day, hike, was or whichever activities I was doing. This belt fixes that. I no longer have to use a rigid, uncomfortable belt that stabs me in the hips that stretches and warps requiring you to use a sledge hammer and a sharp punch to make it fit again. Since purchasing this belt, this brand is the only belt that I wear and plan to wear. It’s literally impossible to go back. It’s as if you owned a cordless phone at your house but we’re then introduced to an iPhone. lol. The freedom of movement and usefulness of this belt is amazing. Do yourself a favor and purchase this amazing belt.
Functional backpacking belt
The flat buckle on this belt makes it for me -- I can hardly tell I'm wearing it, it never gets in the way of my waist belt on my backpack, and it's easy to slip into and out of the loops in my pants. The buckle is plastic, but it's sturdy and I don't expect to have issues with it breaking and I think they went with plastic to make the overall weight less. If you adjust the size of your belt frequently you might get frustrated with this belt, as it is not very easy to adjust. But if you, like me, adjust it once and then you're good to go that won't bother you. There's a great loop that keeps the tail of the belt very firmly in place if you have a smaller waist. I really appreciate this feature too. Nice colors.
Solves many pants challenges
This belt is great for eliminating the unfortunate butt gap feature of some of what would otherwise be my favorite outdoorsy pants. It’s a little tough to adjust and just barely threads into the belt loops of my pants (one size fits most doesn’t always include small women) but after some struggles, it vastly improved the fit of a few pairs of pants. Comfortable under a harness and held its own for hiking, climbing, and trail work.
