BD Clipper

Lightweight but durable. Fits well on BD harnesses.

Super functional, slightly uncomfortable

It does it's job well - easy to clip screws or tools to - and it works well in the conditions I've used it in: as cold as -10ºF and warm as 40ºF. No problems with wet ice gunking it up. Only nit is the fairly big profile where it slots into a harness (with ice clipper slots). It's certainly sturdy, but if it was a little thinner, I think it would still do the job (it's never really subjected to large loads) while creating less of a sore spot in my side.

Good overall

This gear loop is a good one overall. The only downside is with my Arcteryx alpha 395 harness, the little lip that is supposed to secure the clipper the the right spot on the harness is to small. I would recommend the older gen petzl ice clippers which are essentially the same design but doesn’t have this issue. Moral of the story try it at your local store with your harness if you can before hand.

Even though these are smaller than other brands they fit the ice clipper loops in most harnesses readily. The smaller size also keeps the screws compacted and they tend to not slam against each other or around as much versus larger ones. Main downside is if I need a lot of screws on my harness I’m using more of these than I might otherwise with a larger one.

Excellent update

To be honest, I did not prefer the older version of the BD ice clipper, but these are great! They feel just the right size, and they integrate well with my harness ice clipper slot. Also, these include a rubberized attachment method for harnesses without ice clipper slots. This is a great feature that I don't think was mentioned on the product description.

Overall good

My only complaint is that these tend to rotate on my harness while walking around. When climbing though they're great. Like the top shelf. The gate operates very smooth. I had 4 screws on these pretty comfortably, not sure what the limit would be

They work great for screws and tools. I haven’t tried the competition, but don’t see any need. Get some. Make sure your harness is compatible, otherwise you’ll want a clip on style from another brand. These are a necessity for ice climbing.

Nice little clipper

Fits on the other major brands harnesses, more beefy that theirs as well. Overall good design, material seems to be a good choice and doesn't seem to get more brittle with cold temps. I like them, have two, gave my others away :)

If you are doing any ice climbing these are a most have. It makes having ice screws/tools easy to work with. Everything can be taken on/off the ice clipper with one hand
