Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

I was blown away at how amazingly comfortable these are! So so soft, very easy to move in, and they're warm and feel durable. And they FIT! I always struggle with finding pants to fit me with my wide hips, large thighs and smaller waist. I ordered a medium and am quite happy (5'6, 140 lbs, shorter stocky legs). They fit perfectly, do not slide down, and don't need to compress my legs to do so (*cough leggings cough*). Honestly will wear these around the house too. (DISCLOSURE: My only other experience with long underwear was an older pair of silk long underwear that were terribly restricting and see-through.. it's like night and day)
I was gifted these (upon request) and I was so excited to find a reasonably priced base layer, and in petite, but these are a real bummer. I debated going up a size (L to XL) because comparing brands are very tight but I'm glad I didn't, these are already too big! The band actually fits well, but immediately south they start to sag and are weirdly baggy/large. The weird fit makes it is that these will never see the light of day, would NOT wear around/ as pants. They are not that snug at the legs either, making them bunch at the bottom, leaving harsh indents with boots/ ski boots. They are reasonably warm, just a horrible fit.
Dear REI: don't ever change or discontinue this style, they are THE BEST!!!!! My experience with athletic leggings is that they just plain don't fit because I'm not shaped like a fashion model. I'm naturally pear shaped with a muscular lower body, basically my quads get bigger if I so much as look at a barbell. These tights are a PERFECT fit through the waist, butt, and thighs, and I'm going to be purchasing several more pairs for winter running. They're so comfortable and fit so well that I've been wearing them around the house since the package arrived. People whining that the thighs are too big should acknowledge their thin privilege and buy one of the hundred other pants that are made for their shape instead of begrudging a curvy girl the only thing that fits. Stats: 5'1", 120-125lbs, athletic, normally a 4-6 in womens pants. I ordered petite medium.
I'm an avid hiker and found these to be a wonderful base layer. I recently wore these on a long hike in the rain with my 3-season hiking pants and I was warm and dry. These are incredibly soft and not see through at all. I felt comfortable lounging in the cabin after the hike. They have also washed nicely (I line dried). I highly recommend this base layer.
This is my first winter after getting rid of my car and have a mile walk/bike ride/scooter ride to work, so I got these to help cut down on the chill. I wore them for a full day yesterday (and they're back on today). I planned on taking them off when I got to work, but they were so comfortable I wore them all day under a pair of khaki pants! The fabric is soft and stays in place. I'm 5'3" and 225 lbs carrying a lot of my weight in my stomach - imagine a dude with a beer belly - that's me (I love my body so don't fret at my description). I bought an XL Petite and they fit very well! They do not role when on my stomach - which is huge and a common problem. They also don't cut into me if I wear them high around my stomach. The picture is accurate about how high they go (a little below the belly button). The length was on point and go all the way to my ankles and don't bunch at the bottom. Regarding warmth, when I wore them yesterday, it was around 30F with a bit of a windchill (maybe to the low 20's?), I wore them under khakis while riding a scooter downhill at 15 mph. I could feel the cold, but was not uncomfortable. I then proceeded to wear them the rest of the day in my office which is between 68F-74F and felt fine (it should be noted that my office had a chill in it most of the day as I think my window was leaking). Very happy with my purchase and will be purchasing more today!
I love these long johns! So comfy I have slept in them several times. I've worn them skiing twice and out in the cold walking the dogs and they are great! Thin enough to be worn under jeans and warm enough for cold days and nights. I would definitely buy them again.
I'm 27 years old, 5'1 tall and 95 lbs. I have trouble finding women's clothes that fit me. The length fit me, but the thighs were too loose. The REI tights in kids sizes fits, except the waistband is too tight. I ended up getting Smartwool Kids base layer bottoms, and those fit nicely except they stop at the ankle (not a problem for me but some don't like it).
I LOVE these. I’ve never had thermal bottoms that don’t make me feel like I’m in an oven as soon as a start sweating a little bit. These regulate me perfectly- they keep me warm at the beginning of a cold hike without my having to stop and wrestle my way out of them at some point. They are also soft and comfy enough to wear on their own as casual tights or car pants, and they aren’t see-through like a lot of other thermals. (I’m 5’0, about 130, and the petite medium fits nicely.)
I almost didn't order these because I usually need to try on base layers, but the sale price was too good and I'm really glad I got these. They're super soft, and the waist is comfortable--not too tight. I've never had petite base layer bottoms before and it's really nice to have some that are the right length. I saw some other reviews that said these were too loose in the legs, but they fit me perfectly. I've got very developed calves, and usually tights and leggings are too snug there, but these are just right.
I love wearing it under my jeans during freezing temperatures. It kept my legs warm through the whole day. It's comfortable and form-fitting. XS petite was the perfect length on my 4'11" 110lbs self; the legging ended just above the ankle.
