An excellent about town boot with a rugged edge
In the last seven days this boot's journey has spent over a dozen hours in airports(walking on tarmacs, small planes to jumbo liners, pacing endlessly), biking to breweries and light hiking around Boulder to Colorado Springs and then back across the country to Martha's Vineyard sipping wines with ocean views and stomping on tick infested poison oak/ivy to make it to sacred pristine beaches. Overall the boots held up well. I was originally skeptical of the tread pattern, but in the end had zero issues. Likes: 1. The boot looks great walking around town, but is sturdy enough for a easy hikes. I personally wouldn't take it on any serious backpacking. 2. The laces are awesome. Never once did I have to double knot or did they come untied. The friction of the material keep them together until I decided they needed to come off. 3. The insoles are heaven. I spent a 3 hour layover in Boston just traipsing about the airport and my feet felt great. 4. The waterproofing was a nice feature and after purposefully dunking it in several puddles and a creek I can report no leaks. 5. No significant tears or mechanical failures only light scuffing. Neutral: 1. The boots come all nice, smooth and shiny, but the sheen quickly wore down to a more rugged look. I liked the way the leather aged, but some may not and I also beat the heck out of them in those seven days. Dislikes: 1. I'm a solid size 9 in almost every shoe that I wear, but they felt a little big to me and a bit narrow around the center of the foot. Overall: This is a great boot that is perfect for the adventurer who likes a good looking shoe for in town romping with a couple side adventures without needing to change shoes.
Easy to Wear Right Out of the Box
These were very comfortable right out of the box that I walked for two miles the first time I put them on. I wore them the next night to a concert where I was on my feet for two hours. Again, they felt great and provided excellent support. I ordered a size 11, same as my dress shoes size, and they were a great fit. I wore them on a cross country flight. Walking through the airport, they were stylish with my jeans. They also felt good on the plane and in the terminal. They're showing slight signs of wear on the rear sole, but other than that they're holding up quite well. Overall, I would recommend these boots for everyday use.
Not actual working boots
Initial reaction to the boot was that it fitted well and looked great. These were bought with the intent of wearing them every day under light labor and walking. After two months of wearing them, I started to notice the tip of the sole of the boot consistently getting caught in the rug. One day while looking at the sole of the shoe I noticed the rubber sole was splitting from the cushion portion of the mid-sole. Both boots are having the issue and now the rubber is peeling off at the inner portion by the arc of the foot. This product has poor adhesive. This will be the last pair of Sorel boots I ever purchase. 3 months? really?
Looks trendy but very functional
I've been wearing these for the past week, and everyday I like them more and more. The styling is really versatile- looks great with jeans, but also stylish enough to wear to a business meeting. The flat sole makes your feet feel well supported and the boot is much more shoe like than it appears. They are very flexible and don't feel like I am wearing boots all day, which is very nice. We had a rainstorm the other day, and the boot got dunked in almost to my ankles and my feet stayed dry. These are quickly becoming my everyday go to shoe.
The outsole is the weakness and will kill the boot
Love the styling, fit and comfort of these boots. I worn them exclusively when not wearing sneakers for 3 years and they've been a joy to walk on. I would have given these 5 years if not for 2 issues, both have to do with the outsole. 1. you see on the picture of the outsole, there is a tiny piece of of the outsole at the toe tip seems not unibody to the whole, and this piece will break off and fall off. Seems like a design flaw or is it planned obsolescence ? 2. also have to do with the outsole and how its glued to the midsole; the glue will de-bond over time. Both of these issues have happened, I'd guess after 300 miles, in PNW.
Love The Look but not impressed with the quality
I bought these boots they look great dress up and down great for work or for everyday use. They are pretty comfy for the most part, but as soon as a started wearing them I started getting foot and ankle fatigue. To me that was not a deal breaker could just be part the the break in process. Then 2 weeks after I bought them the sole of the boot started separating from the boot. For me this is unacceptable especially because I forked out 180 dollars on them. Maybe it was just bad luck but I am taking them back and I wont be getting another pair.
Fantastic Boots!
I bought the Grill/Black pair of the Sorel Madison boots at REI about a month ago. The ones with the orange shoe laces. I’m a woman who has to buy men’s boots. My feet are too wide for women’s. These are super comfortable right out of the box. I wouldn’t consider them hiking boots, more like just to have something comfortable to wear that also look very stylish. They are well made and I expect to get a lot of wear out of them. Highly recommend for a nice pair of boots for the Fall. The gray with the orange laces look great.
2nd pair Moc Toe Boots
Second pair of moc toe boots I purchased. I’ve worn the 1st pair almost everyday through the last MN Winter. They aren’t an insulated boot, but they made it through daily grind of snow, rain, ice, slush for me. They will be my go to for this next season. Needless to say, I had to get a second pair. This pair was Elk color. Not exactly like it looked online. Pics look more like a smooth leather, it’s not like that at all. (That’s why only 4/5 stars, more reflective of the website and marketing than the quality of product. But the color was fine and I know it’s a well made, durable product that will last. Very satisfied!
Excellent fit
When these shoes arrived in the mail I was ecstatic! Color was true as it was in the pictures! I wasn't able to wear them the first day as I was leaving to a ball game but over the course of the best five days these are the ONLY shoes I wore! these shoes run true to size and didn't waiver. I would recommend wearing calf socks (I wore lightweight wool hunting socks) since the upper part of the shoe would run against your skin. These shoes felt great doing everything from climbing stairs to walking on pavement inclines walking through the forest over gravel and leaves and dirt. After about the 5th day my right small toe started to feel some rubbing but that could also be due to the socks . I recommend you buy these shoes for trail or city walking! I was concerned at first because it was raining but quickly remembered these boots were waterproof!
Comfortable & Looks Great!
These boots rock! They are super comfortable right out of the box. I've been wearing them to work since they look great. I also have to stand for my job most of the time, they've been really comfortable. I'm sure once the rains start up here in Seattle, they'll be the perfect boot for walking to work, hiking, and just a great all round boot.
