Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".

PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.

TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

PCT 2017 Thru-Hiking Shirt
Portabella
This shirt held up magnificently! I wore it every mile of the 2658+ miles of the PCT and various other hikes I have gone on since I bought it. Yes, the colour faded from its original purple to a lighter blue(which is to be expected from any darker colour being exposed to the sun for hours on end) making me look like a walking mood ring but WHO CARES! I would much rather have a bleached shirt than a skin cancer causing sunburn. I will choose this shirt again in a heart beat whenever the one I have disintegrates.

PCT Thru-Hike - "Meh"
Bites
I wore this shirt for approximately 2,000 miles of the PCT this year (after replacing a similar shirt from another ). The fabric is fairly thick, and because of that it held up well. My one complaint is that the fabric dye faded incredibly quickly - after wearing the shirt for a week of hiking the entire back and shoulders (where my pack hit the shirt) were bleached out - for reference I purchased the teal color. It looked pretty hiker-trashy to wear this around town, which I was trying to avoid.

Why did you change the design?????

These shirts were my hand down go to summer work shirts. I recommended them to EVERYONE. I grabbed a new one off the rack this year without checking much but size and boy was I dissatisfied. 1. The fit is different it's boxy and seems short (I have a very short torso as is) 2. The fabric is different and not in a good way 3. The super useful pocket along the button line is gone. All that's left are two not useful chest pockets that are inaccessible with a chest strap from a pack on. 4. The vents under the arms are gone which were also awesome in changing weather REI you had such a good thing. WHYYYYYYYY????

Love this shirt!

I like my shirts big and I found a 2X in the store. It's perfect for summer, hot, hiking. Toward the end of my 8 mile hike at Valley of Fire in Nevada, I actually used it to block the hot sun, like a parasol HA!

Fine shirt, terrible buttons

This top seems decent, though I haven't worn it on a hot day yet and so I can't speak to if it's comfortable in the heat. It seems true to size. I'm 5'5", 145 lbs, and the medium fits well. I have broader shoulders and appreciate that I can still move my arms. However, the buttons on this top are TERRIBLE to try to do/undo (they are tiny and sewed on very tightly so they are hard to work with). I'm not sure if this is just the case on the top I got or if it's across the board. I do not have arthritis in my hands, but if I did I would not buy this top. REI could improve the shirt by using snaps on the whole thing. If you don't mind fussing with buttons, the top seems fine.

Super comfortable shirt for travel or camping

Great fitting lightweight top. The Teal color is fantastic, I got several compliments! So many shirts like this only come in drab colors, so the teal is a nice change from that. I like how the sleeves roll up. I also liked that it wasn't as boxy as most shirts in this style - I have big boobs and this shirt managed to button up just fine while still having some shape at the waist. My only wish is that the hidden pockets were located somewhere lower down (maybe near the side/waist/hip area) instead of directly on the boobs - looks kind of strange if you use these pockets for anything!

Nice looking shirt!

I bought this shirt in two colors, and both of the colors are great! I agree that this could translate into a nicer casual shirt, but it is the type of fabric that can be quite wrinkly if it isn’t hung up. I am 5’2” and probably around 120 pounds. I went with a small because I prefer some extra room in my shirts, and I’m glad I did because I think the xs would have been a little too fitted for my liking, but this is just a preference. It’s a great shirt, and I love that the sleeves can be rolled up.

PCT 2018 Shirt

I love this shirt. I wore it for the first 1,100 miles of the PCT, and only switched to the short-sleeve version because I wanted to tan my arms (and rolling up the sleeves never feels good on my arms - too tight). The shirt held up very well, though there was pilling around the upper and lower back where my backpacked rubbed. The shirt does hold on to stink. Overall, its great. It's super breathable, and I only felt super sweaty when it was just incredibly hot. I did not have problems with color fading with my shirt as previous reviewers have: I had the tan color.

REI - What are you doing????

I've purchased several sahara shirts in the past and loved them. Ordered two for an upcoming trip. What a disappointment! The fabric has changed - nice and lightweight, will dry easily, but it's a mass of wrinkles. Why would you want a travel shirt that wrinkles like crazy? Part of the appeal of these shirts is that they look nice enough to wear out to dinner or into a museum. Not any more. So tired of companies cheaping out on material and/or construction to save a few bucks. Bring back the old safari! Will keep one - it was on sale for $17. But sadly returning the other one.

Awesome field/work shirt!

I got this shirt for working in the field - I am often bushwhacking through the woods for hours on end, in bugs & all temperatures, and this shirt has been a dream! I am always between sizes S & M, and the Medium in this shirt fit my shoulders perfectly. It's first outing was greeted with 90+ Fahrenheit temps and humidity and it stayed super breathable even with a backpack - sweat dried up quickly and the collar helps keep out sun & insects! It's stretchy and easy to move in, & honestly is one of the better work shirts I've worn. It wouldn't hold on its own in cold temps but with layers I'm sure it'd be fine. I will likely be purchasing more of these shirts when the time comes!

Highly recommend

I wore this in the hot sun, in humidity, and in cold, rainy wind, and was happy. Usually wore over an off-white tank so could unbutton a bit in the shade. Excellent. Protected me from the sun & insects, looked good with both khaki & olive pants, has pockets, sleeves roll up. I got two: The Cool Aqua color was excellent to go from safari to casual dining and is already my favorite of the two. The khaki colored one ("beachwood" color) was also great. Have washed in sinks to hang dry and also in a washing machine on cold with good results.
