Wish they stocked the 7mm version
Happy to find this in stock in the Salt Lake store but after having used it for the last month, I wish I had purchased the 7mm rather than 8mm version of the VT. This 8mm version is probably best if you’re only using this for technical rescue on 11mm static lines, but for recreational climbers most of our ropes are in the 8-9.5mm range these days and the 8mm just doesn’t bite as well as a 7mm would.

Only 31"
This is an older version of the 8mm VT: only 31" long; the new version is 33" long so you can get one additional wrap around the rope; Blue Water also makes this in BLACK; if you also carry a TAN one, you can set them up differently depending on how you want to use them

Time to replace your old prusik loop.

The VT Prusik is an extremely versatile cord that can be used for a wide range of applications, including ascending, self-belay while rappelling, knot passing, and in haul systems. What sets it apart from traditional Prusiks is its super tough, heat resistant Technora sheath over durable nylon core strands, along with its unique open-end design. Of course the VT Prusik can be used to tie traditional hitches like the 3-wrap Prusik. It can also be used to tie: • Asymmetric Prusik hitches (Schwabisch and Distal) that hold when you need them to hold and release more easily when you want them to release, and • Valdotain Tresse that will hold when you need it to hold and can be released while loaded; extremely useful for tasks like passing knots.

Adventure Jon

Great product with many uses for Canyoneers, Mountaineers, Rescue Technicians, and Climbers alike. I carried prusik loops made from 6mm accessory cord for years. Since I always carry 2 rope grabs on my person at all times, this has become my go-to since it offers so many options for use.

Very versatile

It is a good Prusik cord. It is heat resistant and abrasion resistant. Since it is not a loop it could be a bit more versatile. It can be used as back up on a rappel or as an emergency ascender. However, I wish it was a 7mm.

Great Prusik

great prusik, eye holes are large enough for multiple size carabiners. with at least 6 wraps the prusik really bites down on the rope. The only down side is they only have 1 color available.

As expected

Works for what it is designed to - no issues with using it for the rapelling as an extra break

Great backup

Works great for rappel backup. I haven't used it for anything else.
