Great but limted
I'm writing this review b/c I noticed there weren't many when I was looking at this backpack. I bought this 3 months ago, and I used it as my main primary backpack. This is the perfect backpack, but only to an extent. I used this scrambling in Yosemite, hiking in the PNW, daily work pack, commuter backpack etc. The best way I can describe this backpack is a really good entry level engineer. It performs real well, but cannot go more than it was designed for. This backpack is not possible to stuff. If what you want doesn't fit perfectly in this backpack, you're out of luck. This is a very space restricting backpack. Why? It never loses it's shape. But to keep that up, you need to be packing light, always. Organization needs work. This backpack has 2 good places to store things. If not, all your wire will get tangled. I had to buy more packing cubes to compensate. It's light and very well built. I was caught in a rain storm, and the contents were fine. When not fully stuffed, I can carry this backpack around ll day. All in all, this is a GREAT backpack, if you have limited stuff to carry. The moment you start doing mullti day trips with this bag, you'll had a bad time. The outside draw strings were really nice to carry a jacket, but only works if you're carrying light in that smaller pocket. Best day pack I've EVER owned. Okay for light weekend trips. Terrible for 3+ days.

Maybe not Worth the Price
I bought this a few months ago as a bag for climbing gear while outdoor bouldering along with hiking and bike riding. It is a nice pack and is large enough for a helmet, snacks, small tools, and with the exterior webbing for a small and light jacket to be stuffed and an area just for a bladder, it holds the amount a 30 litre bag should. The bottle holders on the side have held 48 oz Nalgene bottles comfortably and havent had anything drop from it. But it's not worth the price tag. After a few hikes with a heavier load, maybe a bit more than 10 pounds, you can really feel the shoulder straps digging into you, if not while hiking then when you finish up, you'll be sure it was there. The zippers are small but the small threading as zipper pulls helps it out but looks way more DIY than a Patagonia product should look. Like other reviews, you can not stuff this at all. It will last many years, but you'll be planning it all out way before. Overall, it's a nice pack. Getting it on sale for half the cost is even nicer and the main incentive I had for pulling the trigger on this. For the full price, it is not worth the money. Other companies such as Osprey offer much more for less, especially comfort and more room than advertised.

Great pack for work as well as play

Great for trips where I need to bring my laptop but want to have a pack that I can also use for recreation. I used to lug along my work laptop bag as well as another backpack for hikes. With this pack, I can carry my laptop in the padded pocket and when I get to my destination remove the laptop and the bag is great for hikes, skiing, etc. Also, it doesn't look like a work bag. Side pockets are great for water bottles. I like how the zippers stop half way down. If I forget to zip it up all the way, my stuff isn't falling out like my previous bag. 15.6" Thinkpad fits perfectly in the laptop section.

She used to have a North Face....

All three of my young adult children have North Face Backpacks. They've been using them for years and I think they are some of the most durable. Well, our new puppy chewed the strap so I was forced to buy a new bag. My daughter really loved this bag and I agree - it IS cute! I bought her the brown/blue. Overall, it's roomier than the NF we had in the past. This bag doesn't have that "toughness" that NF does. Overall, it's very functional and she is really happy with it. Time will tell if it lives up to the challenge - its got some big shoes to fill!

Great backpack for traveling and light hiking

I bought this backpack for our trip to Hawai in Jan. and I'm still finding myself using it all the time! It's a lightweight, holds plenty of stuff, whether you're day hiking, going to Disneyland or going an overnight stay. I love the computer pouch, I fit another soft cold bag for snacks for my child and a change of clothes. In the front pouch I keep my valuables and secure the zipper ties in a crowd. So pleased with my purchase!

Gobs of storage!

Gobs of storage space and small enough to be just right. Light as a feather and above all COMFORTABLE! Dries quick also. I had it in the swamps with me on a kayak trip and it got wet. I placed the pack in the bed of truck on the way home. In 20 minutes it was toasty dry. I would buy this pack again in a New York second!

Great Back Pack

This pack was purchased before our travel to Canada. Worked great as carry on. Also used as day pack for several hikes in while in Canada. The 30L size was ample room for rain gear, fleece for layering and snacks/meals. Expect to use this for years to come.

College Student Wirth laptop!!

Went to Rei , they did not have this one but he one below it $10 bucks cheaper. Nice bag but not enough for me so I ordered this one online and had shipped to store. This bag is perfect for me, Laptop separate zipped and padded compartment, I have MacBook Pro 2018 so more than enough room lol. you could easily fit a huge laptop in this compartment. 2 water bottle pockets with belt straps, (I loop thru Nalgene bottles and yeti to hold in place. And one main compartment for books etc and a smaller with a bunch of sleeves and pockets. I can pack all school stuff, extra clothes water coffee, and my lunch and have plenty of room. The shoulder straps are nice and stable and slide nice on jackets and shirts. Patagonia makes the best bags and packs and they are built tough, I think this is actually very cheap for this quality of bag, since I know unless something crazy happens to it, it will last for 10 plus if not more years. Also highly recommend their black hole duffel bags, I use for Xc skiing, triathlons, and camping and open water swimming gear.

Great for travel and day-to-day

I bought this backpack for school and have been using it for 2 years and it works great. I can easily fit all my books and notes in there without a problem. I also used it when I traveled to Europe this past summer for 2 weeks. This was the only bag I brought with me and I was able to fit all my clothes and shoes and everything else in there with only a little bit of difficulty. After that trip this is the only bag I travel with. It's pretty easy to carry and fits under most airplane seats even when it's completely stuffed full. The side pockets work great and my 32 oz. Hydro Flask fits great. There are lots of little pockets in the middle pocket for holding things so that you don't have to dig around too much. The only downsides is that at times it can feel kind of flimsy but it still holds up great. Also because the weight distribution is more towards the front it tends to fall over if you set it down. I highly recommend this backpack for anything.

Scratchy straps rub neck and arms.

As soon as I put this pack on I had to take it off because the scratchy straps irritated my neck and arms. It’s a shame because otherwise it’s a nice light pack. I can’t wear it so I am returning it.
