Bottle performs as advertised
This bottle holds fluids as advertised. I was slightly concerned by it’s futuristic design, but my concerns were put to rest the first time I filled it up with water. Not only does it hold the chosen contents as good as if not better than other water bottles I’ve owned, but also dispenses them with the well designed rubber nipple. Bravo, REI, Bravo!

Leak when dishwashed
Dishwashing damages the seal and the water bottle fails to contain water.

Soft, easy to squeeze

Bottle felt good. Very easy to squeeze but felt durable. A little concerned about torquing the lid on too tight. Plastic threads tend to give me worry and these are not square-cut threads to help prevent leaks. So far, I've had to put the lid on pretty tight to not have the lid leak water when squeezing the bottle. So not sure how long the threads will last or if there is a chance of over-tightening. Doesn't taste like plastic! Overall I'm happy with the bottle and the design.

Used all the time on this vacation

I bought this bottle to replace the one I lost on the flight over. I like the purist bottles since they have less of an aftertaste than the ones that don't have this feature. The top is a simple pull to open rather than a "squeeze" to get the water out and I prefer this for greater water flow. I also like the translucent side , easy to tell the water level. This bottle works fine when I was hiking and biking on this trip.

leaks and develops plastic smell

Purchased this water bottle a year or so ago to take to the gym and general use, however I learned rather quickly that the silicone pull-out nozzle could slowly leak water in my gym bag, so I avoided packing unless upright. Unfortunately after a year, the bottle developed a strong plastic smell too which affected the taste of the water inside. Last week I ended up tossing it and writing this review to warn others. I understand that this was designed to sit in a bicycle cage on the frame and a minor leak wouldn’t be an issue, but found the plastic smell and taste problem unacceptable.

Fell apart after 10 months

Purchased Feb 2020. Nozzle had lost its seal in September after 7 months. I pulled the nozzle open with my teeth in December and almost choked on it as part of it fell into my mouth. The top of the nozzle was dangling on by a few cm of material that remained. The bottle was used daily for work and while cycling.

Gray Bottle Has Clear Strip on Side

Bought the Gray bottle. Surprised to see the clear strip along the side. Helps to see the water level while using the Frig door water dispenser. It fits perfectly on bike bottle cage.

Great bottle, no plastic taste.

Great easy to clean bottle. The best part is the no taste of plastic. Another plus, is if you put a Nuun in there the flavor doesn’t stick.

Color flawed

Bottle itself seems to function as it should but the color is flawed. Photo is of bottle right out of the shipping package. There is a streak where the bottle was not colored.

Taste is not as "pure" as advertised

I really wanted to like this bottle. I had high hopes for the Purist technology, but alas, using for it camping/hiking over a somewhat hot weekend proved that a little heat could change the taste. It certainly didn't taste like "water in glass." A couple other complaints include the free flow (i.e. leak) of water as soon as it's tipped with the spout open and the placement of the tapered mid-section. The design is a plus though.
