Just about perfect

Bought this a month ago when I purchased a new car. After years of using the Yakima Viper fork mount, and he older HighRoller, I wanted a rack that I didn’t have to remove the wheel for, and didn’t look like a rocket launcher on top of the car. This definitely fits the bill. It sits low on the crossbars, and looks sleek and not as bulky as other Yakima roof racks. The bikes are easy to mount, once you get then above your head. I Ike that this doesn’t require adjusting the front loop for different size wheels. I like the new tightening mechanism, and the ratcheting stop when you get the right tension. No more worrying about getting it too right or not right enough. I’ve been able to mount my road bike, 29er and heavy downhill rig without any issues and concern about them being on the roof. They were all secure at 80 mph on the highway. I opted for Yakima RailBars to mount this on, using the integrated t-slot. The t-slot does away with the flexible/metal straps. I would highly recommend using the t-slots if you can, it is much more secure.

Absurdly Short, Good for Big Bikes Only

The 35" maximum bar spacing and 26" minimum tire size means this rack is only good for big bikes on small cars. Seems to hold the bike securely.

Perfect for use INSIDE a mini van

We wanted the ability to transport two bikes INSIDE our minivan. The requirements were that the mount not require removing the front wheel, accommodate all our different bikes, and that we can easily put into the van and remove it when we need the seats. The final requirement was height that will accommodate the handle bars. The Yakima HighRoad ticked all the requirements. We mounted the Yakima onto parallel slats that mimic roof rails and are the correct width that we can slide the whole thing in and out the back hatch. If you are looking to mount a full-wheel bike inside a minivan, this bike mount does the job.

Solid Rack

This rack is easy to put on and take off. Holds the bike very secure. Can be secured with a lock if security is needed. Also you are able to lock the bike to the carrier. I would highly recommend this rack to anyone.

Not my first choice, but I wish it were

I was actually in the hunt for a different brand, but I found this alternative that ranked just as high. Now in hindsight, I realize I should have had the HighRoad as my first choice to begin with. Throwing my bike on top of my Outback is so simple and smooth. No worries about whether the front wheel is tight or loose as the torque mechanism dials things in just right.

My second rack system from Yakima!

Just finished setting up my rack system (50" Corebars, Windshield, Landing Pads, Skyline Towers, SKS Locks and HighRoad Mount) from REI/Yakima... so easy, almost no tools needed for any of the components and can be completed within about an hour and a half, depending upon your vehicle. I previously had the Front Loader Bike Mount and went with the High Road this time around as it is a bit sleeker and more aesthetically pleasing. Install was simple, added the SKS locks was simple throughout the rack system (6 locks in all). Happy to have this awesome rack system and can't wait to put my bike up there, maybe add some kayak components and find some new adventures. I completely lucked out by stopping by a particular REI in Austin and they had almost all of the components with exception of High Road mount (ordered for next day pick up but it actually took about 3 weeks to come in.)... The REI website didn't really match up with in store products inventory and vice versa. Overall, good experience because I got what I wanted.

Well made and easy to use

Well made and easy to install and use. We added it to our Thule aero system easy breezy. I left it upright when backing into garage by accident. Yakima 1, garage 0. Only complaint is how hard it is to tighten once bikes are in. But I’d buy again.

Easy to Install, Easy to Load and Secure

Honestly, this is the best rack I've used. It might be a slight pain if you wanted to transfer it between different cars often, but otherwise it works like a dream.

Excellent for a short vehicle.

I've been using the highroads four about four months. Excellent for a short vehicle. I drive a Honda fit and two of the Highroads are amazing for hauling two bikes. I can get my bike up on the roof without any issue and reach all the adjustments and systems of the highroad without issue. The ratcheting hoop lock system is strong and I have never once worried about something coming loose or a tire getting pinched. The hoops accommodate very wide tires such as my 650b, 2.5 inch Mountain bike tires and more common 700x25mm without an issue. The locking strap system to secure the highroads to the car rack is also very secure. The user experience is mostly hassle free with this rack. I would or sure recommend this to someone with a sorter vehicle who already use a roof rack. Beats strapping a rack to your rear hatch or trunk lid.

Great Bike Mount!

I combined the 20% off REI Anniversary Sale coupon, some gift cards, and my dividends to get the Yakima Highroad bike rack. I was able to utilize my existing Yakima BedRock truck bed crossbars that I use with my Yakima FatCat6 ski rack in the winter. Unlike my previous MTB fork-mount setup, this allows me to keep my bike's front wheel on, my truck's tailgate to close and not obstruct my rear view camera, still retain all my truck bed space, and is more sturdier/secure for those long MTB roadtrips. Yakima states that the max. bike wheelbase for this mount is 48". My Orbea OCCAM is a Large size and has a wheelbase of 46.18", so I had to move (shorten) the rear tire mount inward a few clicks on it's track from it's maximum position to get it centered under the rear axle. I could definitely see some longer trail/enduro XL/XXL size bikes possibly having issues with their rear tire hanging off the rear mount or not fitting at all. Online ordering and the curbside pickup was a breeze at my REI Fort Worth, TX location!

Easy to use, very short, but no major flaws

This bike rack is very easy to use, installation is straightforward, and even better with the T-slot adapters that allowed me to move the rack all the way to the end of my bars. My only complaints are minimal: The overall length is pretty short. I had to move the bars closer together on my MINI Cooper to get this to fit, which meant adjusting my cargo box too. I also wish there were a narrower option, as I'm mounting road bikes so I don't need the clearance for a fat bike tire (and I don't want to take the front wheel off). Finally, the knob to clamp down on the bike tire seems like it could be switched to a quick release system. It works fine as is, but could be even better. The bike lock is a nice hidden feature, and as always, being able to lock everything down to the car with SKS locks is necessary for peace of mind.

Yakima HighRoad! Excellent rooftop rack!

Extremely Easy to use and allows the hatchback to open completely, holds the front wheel further forward on the bar than the Frontloader.
