Great kayak for beginners
We bought this kayak, and liked it so much we went back and got another one. Our paddlers are aged 10years to elderly, and they have no problems with control or stability in this kayak up to 12mph wind and moderate chop (we go home if there is more than that, anyway). The seat area is wide enough for chubby female adults unlike many other similar kayaks. The rear storage bungee can be unhooked, place your gear, and rehook it. It fits a medium size Coleman cooler with room to spare, not the family size cooler and not a milk crate. If you are heavier weight, the seat and foot scupper holes will let in a small amount of water as will any sit on top kayak. Remedy this by plugging the seat scupper holes, or use a slightly elevated seat (I sit on a garden kneeling pad), or wader pants in cool weather, or use a car washing sponge to soak it up and wring it out (takes 10 seconds or less); in hot weather the water feels good on me. Smaller folks use a 230cm paddle, medium strength and up use a 240cm paddle. Always wear a life vest, and practice deep water reentry several times during the season (learned by watching helpful You Tube videos). I highly recommend the Ocean Kayak Caper for beginners or as a youth kayak to grow into to keep for many years for its stability, weight, wider seat width, and solid construction with convenient features.
