I love this pack, it fits great to my small frame and you really can't beat the current price. The hip straps are too small for my phone, which is a little frustrating since I use this pack for work and need easy access to my phone at all times. Also, I have a 3L Osprey Hydropack, which apparently is too large for this backpack. The hydropack itself has a stiff back for easy loading, but because of this it makes it difficult to compress, even if the hydropack isn't full. I can still finagle it to work, but I would have thought that Osprey brand Hydropacks would be compatible with ALL of their packs.
I ordered this for my girlfriend, and it works fairly decent for a purse or carry on bag. Decent day hike pack but can't fit any real overnight gear due to how awkward it is to pack. If a lady has someone else carrying all the gear and she only has clothes for a few days, it's great. That doesn't suit my lady's temperament though. The sleeping bag compartment barely fits a sweater, much less a sleeping bag. The frame is so curved it makes the main compartment very difficult to utilize. It's very comfortable for her, but so awkward to pack anything other than clothes or snacks, she only uses it for flying, not hiking or backpacking.
This is a very comfortable pack in terms of weight distribution. The weight is carried on your hips, and it barely touches your shoulders. No more aching shoulders after hiking! This fact alone makes it a worthwhile purchase for me. A few things I didn't like, however: I like to hike in tank tops, and the inside strap fabric is like a cheese grater against my skin. It will rub you raw very quickly. I might try sewing on some soft fabric in the places where it touches skin. One other minor quibble: I wish there was a big front pocket for quickly stashing extra layers.
I bought this to take on a three night hike in Havasupai, AZ. We went with a tour company so did not need to carry a tent or food. This was perfect for three days of clothes, extra shoes, towel, snacks, sleeping bag, hiking poles, and sleeping bag. I even got a smaller hydration backpack to fit inside to use for day trips once inside the canyon as well.
My friend bought this pack to prep for our 4 day Inca trail hike to Macau Picchu. I'm curvy & the XS fits me great. Hiked Mt Humphreys, AZ multiple times then off to Inca Trail with same pack. Have to take it off to reach the water bottles or have someone else pull them out. Easy access to hiking poles without removing pack. I mostly pack food & clothing layers inside. Not sure it would be appropriate for more than this.
I read a lot of reviews that expressed skepticism for the sizing of this product. Many people feel this bag runs small according to the size chart. I'd have to say I agree. The size chart says 18" back and below can fit into the XS/S. I measured my back according to their instructions (C7 vertebra to the top of my hips, marking the top of my hips by placing my hands on the top of my hips and pointing my thumbs horizontally straight) to be 15". After receiving the pack, I must say I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase as it fits perfectly and is high quality. However, I do place emphasis on the fact that it fits PERFECTLY. For anyone that measures more than 15", I would without a doubt encourage you to size up to the S/M. I am 5'3", however height and back length do not always go hand and hand so I would not base your decision off of your overall height. Also the color for stealth grey pictured here is true to the actual color of the product. I think grey is an interesting name for a pack that is more green but nonetheless I still love the color.
I love that this pack has so many pockets and compartments. I love the duel opening on the front and the top of the main compartment. The sleeping compartment seems a bit small. Gave this pack a 4 star rating because the hip belt pockets are too small. Can't fit my phone, which means my phone/ camera is not easily accessible. I put it in my water bottle pocket, but it is difficult to reach and vulnerable
