REI should take responsibilty for what it sells

This tape warns of lead content and instructs us to wash hands after handling. This is quite inappropriate for handlebar tape that we touch all the time during rides, especially as we eat during rides. REI’s answer to a questioner below says the purchaser should contact the manufacturer to ascertain the danger. REI is in a far better position to do that than any private customer, and also should take their responsibility to their customers more seriously. In any case they should not sell products not fit for intended purpose.

Read warning label

Potential buyers, especially moms, should consider the written label on the box: WARNING: This product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. *Wash hands after handling.* " Don't know if other tapes should have this warning, or if this warning is just legal CYA.. But 'wash hands after handling', for handlebar tape? Not very practical advice for any rider given how the tape is to be used.

Excellent Colors!

I've had this tape on my bars for a few weeks now. I get lots of compliments on the vibrant green color. I didn't use the included finishing tape because I think regular electrical tape performs better. The tape is very comfortable and when it wears out I'll probably buy this again. I do have to wash it frequently to keep the color bright but that was expected.

Feels Good!

I added this as a 2nd layer of tape for added cushioning. So far it is holding up well.

Great with some issues

I love the color and feel of this tape. It was easy to put on. I have two problems with it. The finishing tape was not sticky enough and fell off within a couple of minutes. I ended up using some electrical tape instead. Also the bar tape feels a little dry. I'm concerned that it won't last long as it feels a bit brittle. For the price and look, this tape seems worth it but time will tell.

Finishing Tape Too Short and Not Sticky Enough

I really like the grip, but the two short strips of finishing tape are totally inadequate. They're too short and the adhesive is weak. I got rid of those strips and used different tape to secure the ends.

Good product. Good price

Feels right and the color is right. The only negative is lack of adhesive to help place the tape.

Very nice handle bar tape. The right balance between grippy and cushioning.
