Nice Seats!

Just wrapped up an 80 mile trek on my new Brooks C17. And I feel fine!! I have several leather B17s. And I had tried a C19. So I was confident the C17 would work out. I opted for the pricier cotton/rubber C17 purely for aesthetics. The black all weather is nylon based I believe, but I was really digging the rubber look over black. I went Cambium over leather as this bike has no fenders. Nice stuff from Brooks.

fantastic saddle

I had beard about Brooks leather saddles but didn't want to deal with the breakin and ongoing care. So, I bought the C17. Best saddle I have ridden, took about 100 miles of tweaking angle and front/back but now it is great. Have about 300 miles on it and rode it 82 miles today. I used to start feeling some saddle discomfort around 40 miles, today I didn't feel any until 70+ miles. buying one for my other bike while sale is still on.

Great Saddle but Not for Me

First off this is a really well made saddle. It may be a little heavy but I ride touring bikes so weight is not a big issue for me. The construction is fantastic and right out of the box it is a comfortable saddle. The “hammock” style is really quite brilliant, it has just enough give to be supportive but also feels stiff enough for pedaling efficiency. Keep in mind that this seat comes in 3 different sizes. It’s slightly confusing because they are each named differently. Well actually have different number variations: C19, C17, and C15. The C19 is the widest and is designed for a more upright riding style, the C17 is in the middle and designed for a slightly tucked style, and the C15 is meant to be the “race” saddle for aggressive riders. The only reason I returned this saddle is because it was just too wide. It felt really good at first but after 30-40 miles it chafed by backside. It gave me a couple serious saddle sores. I found the perfect saddle for me in the Fabric Line 142 Titanium so I never tried the C15. I am giving this saddle 5 stars because it really is well made and should work for a lot of riders out there! Saddles are so subjective and you really need to find the one that works for you. *Side Note* I would recommend getting the all black version that uses nylon fabric instead of cotton. The cotton will actually lose its dye when wet and bleed purple/ black ink.

Road 100 miles the first time I used it

I bought this seat to ride in the Dirty Kansa 100 3 weeks ago. It was great, no numbness in my legs or feet at all. My bike broke down in the middle of ride but was able to finish after 10 hours in the saddle. Great product worth every penny.

A fantastic saddle!

This is a fantastic saddle! I highly recommend it. After giving the factory saddle on my new bike the benefit of the doubt for 500+ miles, I went searching for a more comfortable saddle. After testing a few, I decided on the Cambium C17. The Cambium C17 was comfortable right out of the box. It's firm, but has just enough flex, and adjusts well to my sit bones. I ride it in street clothes on my 18-mile, round-trip commute and on community rides <40 miles. I've ridden it on several metric and full centuries with cycling shorts. Toward the 90 mile/five hour mark, my butt starts to get a little tired, but I suspect that has more to do with the length of time sitting than the saddle itself; and, after a short break, I'm able to finish the rest of the ride in relative comfort. The color has changed from the original slate (a grayish brown) to a much lighter brown (think standard brown dress shoes). I've read other reviews commenting on the slate color fading. I noticed that Brooks no longer carries the Cambium line of saddles in slate. I suspect this may be why. Other than the color change, the saddle seems to be holding up remarkably well to regular use. It has weathered snow, heavy rains, and the humid summer in Washington, DC. While I park it inside at home and at work, it's been on bike camping trips and sat parked under the summer sun for extended periods of time. It still looks great. I imagine this saddle will last a long time. However, when I need another saddle, I would definitely consider purchasing another Cambium.

Comfier than it looks

I just did a century on this thing (in padded shorts, yes) with no major butt pain. It looks great on my Raleigh Record Ace and excels at absorbing vibrations from uneven pavement. I'm an average-height woman with wider hips and very muscular inner thighs, and the fit works just fine for my body.

Makes riding even better

I bought a Spot Acme, but I didn’t want the leather saddle that came with it. So after some research I bought the Brooks Cambium. So far I really like it. The whole advantage of buying the bicycle that I did is it’s very low maintenance, so the Cambium will fit right in.

comfortable

This is as comfortable as any of those big goofy cruiser saddles that looks like a lazyboy. But it also looks good and allows for mobility. It holds you in place, whether you're near the front going fast, or leaned further towards the back cruising. It's worth the money! I just bought a second one cuz I got tired of taking it off to swap on my bikes. REAL HOT SEAT BRO

Brooks England Cambium C-17 Saddle

This is the perfect saddle for me and the type of riding I do, it's just flexible enough to absorb road vibrations but not firm to the point of harshness. I've always found the classic shapes most comfortable (Concord, standard Brooks B-17) when this model came out I was looking forward to trying it. My best compliment is that I stopped noticing it after a few miles and rarely think about saddle comfort over a long ride. I bought this one for my other bike and it's more of the same, excellent!
