I used it on my
I used it on my last hiking/camping trip and many coffee grounds made it into my coffee. It definitely packs well as advertised but not great tasting coffee. Disappointed that it doesn't make a good seal against the cup.
must have for coffee lovers
Instant coffee just doesn't cut it in the backcountry... if you're like me and picky about your morning brew, this is a must-have accessory for your WindBurner. The added weight to your pack is minimal and the press packs nicely into the pots with fuel can & stove. Some reviewers here have commented that grounds get through the screen... that's not my experience and I have both press sizes (Personal and Duo Pot). French Press style brewing requires a coarse ground.. some very fine coffee sediment will get through but that's to be expected when using this method.
Convenient
I love the easy compactability of this product. You can unscrew the metal rod and break it down into two pieces. These two pieces can then snap together -- fewer moving parts. My only caveat with this product is that it doesn't fit inside the stove for storage when you also have the fuel and burner stored inside. You can fit it on the bottom with the attached bowl; However, the bowl doesn't properly close thereafter so there's a higher chance of something breaking when you store it. Instead, I stored separately. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.
Necessary Acessorty
We use this to make morning coffee on our boat (and on shore) in Prince William Sound, Alaska. I like a course grind to keep small bits of bean from making it into our cups. Suggest playing with it prior to first use out in the field; I depressed the plunger too far and had a heck of a time pulling it out of the pot.
Starts my morning off just right!
Used this press as soon as I got it home. Perfect purchase! Still playing with the grind a little bit; to be expected. The press, including the plunger, nests perfectly inside the Windburner pot so it is always with me. Great to have along on our day hikes.
Perfect French press coffee
Works great. We are so happy to have strong fresh coffee while camping. Some grounds did make it into the coffee but I feel that’s unavoidable with any French press. It’s a relatively inexpensive accessory that’s totally worth it.
Not tight enough to keep grounds out
So I've had the other brand canister stoves with the coffee press and it worked great. I upgraded to the windburner and purchased a coffee press for my winter mountain training exercise. Very frustrated with the amount of grounds that travel through the sides of the press. I've tried waiting up to six minutes to let the grounds sink some, didn't work. Wish it fitter better in the stove. Would've given it 3-5 stars if only a few grounds escaped, that would have been expected.
Best Backcountry Coffee
One of the toughest things about camping in the backcountry is not having good coffee. I've tried instant. I've tried Cowboy Coffee. I've tried percolators. I've even used Lexan Press Pots. Nothing, however, is as simple and convenient as this Windboiler attachment. I love this thing and have finally found the perfect backcountry coffee solution. Now, if I can just find a way to keep half and half fresh for more than a few days I'll be in coffee heaven on every trip.
Works well and very easy
This is a must for anyone who needs their coffee and has a Windburner! I have used this backpacking and cabin-camping, and it makes excellent french press coffee. I love how it conveniently fits into the stove when not in use, too. This is an outstanding product!
Perfect addition
Picked up the solo version from my LBS Rainbow Cycles. I'm a convert from instant coffee. Worked perfectly the first try. 27 grams of coffee to 14 oz of water hand ground and steep for 3:45 minutes. Minimal weight and a press that rivals my Bodum press pot.
