Great winter ascent day pack and Osprey is amazing
It is my wife’s backpack and I found it very, very comfortable and great size to put all the essentials for my winter condition ascent including snowshoes and an ice axe. I took me a while to finally share this: there was an accident at a 14ers and a skier died. He took his last breath while I was giving pressure to his injury and his body was on my right lap. The medic didn’t make it in time because of the location and some people tried their best to help, 4 of us lift the deceased to the helicopter. I didn’t realize some of my gears are covered in blood until I got home, I threw away my gloves and some stuff, I was be able to clean my shell jacket but I wasn’t be able to clean the foamy shoulder straps and hip belt so I contacted Osprey online but after I fill out the form there’s an error and I am not sure if they received the parts replacement request. I called and they confirmed they received it and Damien (the Osprey guy) ask if there’s any issue with the parts and I explained what happened, long story short is that I don’t want my wife and I wear something that reminds us of the tragedy. Osprey decided to replace the entire backpack at no cost. Osprey products are great in quality and their back system is the best, they also have compassion. Therefore, I put Osprey as priority when I recommend a backpack.

Gets the job done, but I wouldn't buy again
I've had this pack for a year and it's done a dozen 1-3 night backpacking trips with me. This bag certainly will get the job done, but it seems to be missing a few of the finer details. Though, perhaps that's expected in this price point. In all, I would summarize with: Pros: -excellent size and capacity for short backpacking excursions. -comes in a few different color options so you don't get stuck with pink/purple. -it's comfortable (obviously this is fit-dependent) -it has a horseshoe zipper for main compartment access without unpacking Cons: -said horseshoe zipper has buckles over the top of the zipper so you actually don't have true "easy access." -my main gripe with this pack is that it doesn't have nearly enough compression straps, and the ones it does have pretty irrelevant placement. -frame is prone to squeaking. -waist pockets are sized too small for an iphone6. -not enough compartments/pockets. While I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying this pack, I personally will choose a different one next time I'm lucky enough to be out buying new gear.

Fits everything I need.

Love this size! I saw a few comments in other reviews I wanted to address. If you have light compressible gear, this is the bag for you! My sleeping bag does fit in the sleeping bag compartment no problem(Alps mountaineering quest 20 degrees), My sleeping mat is sea to summit ultralight and fits on the bag with the rain cover over it, my pixel 3 phone is a tight fit, but fits in the hip pocket as well. As you can see just depends on the gear you have. This pack works great for all my lightweight gear.

Pretty good

For me this is a great size for overnight trips. XS/S is 34L capacity. It comes in black (tired of everything pink). Hidden side zipper allowing full access to main compartment without unpacking. Fits my Platypus 3L bag, load water bag first while pack is empty. XS/S is a great fit on my narrow shoulders. Mesh ventilation on back keeps me cool and comfortable instead of sweaty and sticky. Cons: iphone 6s + case will not fit in hip pocket. My smaller, older Osprey pack has a stretchy mesh material covering the pocket, the pocket material on this one does not stretch. Squeaky noise, I assume coming from the frame No little long skinny pocket on the front of the shoulder strap like Tempest has. Anything for easy access must go in hip pocket.

Perfect size for a weekend trip

This was very comfortable. Great access to main compartment from top and from side zipper. Has self contained rain cover. Hip pockets can fit android 6, great access for snacks. Total of four zipper compartments. The pockets fit a large nalgene bottle very easily and securely, but tough to access while wearing( have your friend get it for you). There is an excellent attachment loop for hiking poles with super easy access. Perfect size for a four day lodge based hike into the Grand Canyon. I used the 2 liter osprey which fits great! Also fits in overhead compartment !

Perfect for someone with new hips!

I spent several visits to the Portland REI store where I met Janice, who patiently helped me find just the right backpack to wear on an upcoming pilgrimage trip to Italy. Having just had both hips replaced, the placement and comfort of the hip belts and back support was essential. I ended up ordering this pack online and had it fitted in the store. It fits perfectly, I've been wearing the pack around and am ready for our trip! Thanks so much!

I have pushed this pack to the limits without fail

This was my "gateway pack" into Ultralight backpacking. It is a heavier pack but with great suspension/support like my 'classic' larger Ospreys. The things I would change on this pack? Hip pockets are too small for my iPhone to fit well, the water bottle pockets could be a bit roomier, and I miss the mesh outer pocket. That being said, I have put this pack to the test and pushed it to it's limits and it has held up great. It has traveled hundreds of miles with me on thru-hikes (I have a lot of UL gear and strategically divide/share gear with my backpacking buddy) so our base weights and gear size are pretty minimal. There are times I could use a few more liters of space on my long trips when doing longer food or water carries, which is why I will be upgrading to a slightly larger yet more UL pack, but I don't think this pack was designed best for those types of long trips anyway and despite that, it has still succeeded in filling that need.

Perfect Hiking Buddy

This backpack is by far one of my most prized purchases. Walked 790 km with it on my back on the camino de santiago.

Comfortable pack for hiking the highlands of Scotl

This pack was the perfect size for hiking the West Highlands Way in Scotland. The rain cover kept my items dry even in the constant rain.
