Sizing notes

For rock climbing shoes: Choose soft shoes two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size. We recommend you fit your trad shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size. Remember to factor in stretch. Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch about one full size. Lined shoes stretch about a half size. Remember: a well-fit comfortable shoe will work better than an ill-fitting tighter shoe. For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bouldering/Steep/Indoor Climbing Monster Been climbing solely in the Skwamas for 6 months. Imagine a solution slipper with a wider toe box and you have the skwama. Very sensitive, flexible, and the S-heel is a notable improvement that allows malleability in the heel while not sacrificing the support some people love about the Solution heel. Toe hooking rubber is well-thought out and holds up despite my occasional toe dragging on low-angled climbs. If you're a heavier climber, this might be best reserved for very steep bouldering/route climbing and indoor climbing as they are not stiff nor supportive. However, they will definitely work on slabs if you are a lighter climber. Overall, I have on sighted, flashed, and redpointed all of my hardest climbs with these shoes, so they will be getting a resole and a replace when the time comes. I wouldn't recommend them as a one shoe quiver if you climb in an area where vertical edging is the name of the game, but if you climb boulders, steeps, and indoors mostly- these are a great option and at $145 retail are a steal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you can find them, buy them I've been in the Skwama for three months and can't imagine going without this shoe. The fit is tricky though. It's a low volume shoe with a wide forefoot and a very deep heel. I had to size down two full sizes from my previous Sportivas (Katanna Lace) to a 42.5. I wear an 11.5 street shoe. I probably could have gone to a 42, since it has stretched a bit more than I hoped (almost a full size), but the struggle to get them on is already difficult enough. Once in them I can were them for about thirty minutes before I have to give my feet a break. Their primary use is as my indoor bouldering shoe although I have taken them outside several times. They out preform every other shoe I've worn (Hi Angle, Solution, Ilati, Acro, Katanna, Muira, Narsha, Arrowhead) and fit my foot the best. They out smear all other aggresive shoes and this is an aggresive shoe, not a moderate as it says on this Web page. The cut out in the sole isn't a gimmick. I weigh 150 and on day one the sole flattened out when needed which provided excellent traction for smearing. Every other aggresive shoe I've had is useless for smearing on greasy volumes.Don't misunderstand, it doesn't lose its downturn, it just flattens out when needed. It also out preforms the rest when you need to sink a good heel. For my weight it has also been the best I've tried for edging and smedging. Only the Hi-Angle and Team XVII out preform it for toe hooks. I can see it being to soft for all day edging on granite if you haven't developed strong feet, and for that I'd suggest the HiAngle, but for my weight micro edges and crystals are more than enough to stand on confidently. The fact that it's far less expensive than the rest is just a cherry on top. All in all this is the best all round shoe for my climbing pursuits. Ps. It's not REI's fault that they can't keep them in stock. LA Sportiva only ships cartoons a few times a year and so when those are gone it's simply not possible to replenish them quickly. Unfortunately these shoes are incredible and therefore hard to find. If you find them buy them, you won't be sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bouldering shoe These shoes are great they are super flexible are great for toe hooking and for heel hooking along with pretty good edging, very similar to the solutions. Only thing I would recommend is to try these on before buying they are sized weird because of the flex and the aggressive heel.

This shoe is awesome and I want to buy a pair, but for the last month or more they haven't been stocked in my size. I tried them on and need a 42, which is probably the most popular size for climbing shoes. Please make more sizes available asap!?!?!
