Good quality, but some issues

This shirt is great quality, but it's cut so short that I can't tuck it in while wearing it, which isn't ideal when out in the elements. I'd really like this exact shirt with an extra two inches.

Smartwool base layer shirts are among my favorite winter wear. I live high in the Rockies and love to be outdoors. I hike all winter, even when it is only 10 degrees outside. With smart wool base layer shirts I can layer up with sweaters and shirts for a hike and stay totally warm. And they look good enough that I can wear them when I'm in a coffee shop after a hike or just on a cold winter day when I am out and about. I love the color of this shire and the fit and feel of it.

I wear nothing but Merino Wool tops. Either Smart Wool or Ice Breaker. The shirt is a little clingy so it always looks wrinkled. That’s not an issue to Me but,may be for others. It’s grey, not striped, unless you look real close. Biggest issue with SmartWool is lack of creativity with their colors and they tend to snag much easier than IceBreaker. I have both and that’s been my experience.

I've used this a lot since buying it, and I'm very pleased with it. It's just the right weight for our 30 and 40 degree days, and it doesn't smell after getting it sweaty (my synthetic tops do). It doesn't feel real real substantial, but I only use it as a base layer, and I'm careful how I wash it. With care I expect it will last a long time.

The shirt is incredibly comfortable. However, after wearing it a few times around town, the bottom hem completely unraveled during its first 2 day camping trip. For the price of this shirt, it should hold up a lot better. I mended the hem, but couldn’t find the right color thread, and the material was hard to work with on my sewing machine, and now it’s ugly. I can still camp in it, but was planning on using it for casual wear as well. I won’t be buying another smart wool shirt. Great material, poor quality workmanship.

Runs big but that’s a good thing. I usually order tall sizes but this shirt is long enough to tuck in. It’s fitted nicely in arms and shoulders but stretchy enough for my thick waist. Soft and not scratchy material that washes well and is durable. Perfect breathable next to skin layer for my active life.

Much larger neck opening than other Smartwool base layer tops. Photo accurately depicts this. If that works for you, this is a high-quality lightweight base layer which could also be worn on its own.

This is my first Smartwool baselayer, and after a few uses I have to say it's worth the money. Very comfortable, fits well, true to size, and keeps me warm. I've used this under other layers, and it also works well by itself on a chilly early-morning run. Being in Central Texas, I figured a lighter version like this would be just right. However, I do have my eye on a slightly heavier one for those cold-weather camping trips with my son's Scout troop. One comment about the Pattern version vs. the solid. I went back and forth between those on the web site trying to find a difference. I finally noticed by zooming in all the way that there is a subtle pattern on these, and that's the version I went with. In person, it's also very subtle. Either would have been fine; I picked based completely on the color.
