Perfect Kid's PFD!
My daughter loves this PFD! I couldn't wait until she was big enough to get one. It's "comfy cozy" (her words) and super adjustable, doesn't ride up while seated or messing around in boats, she loves wearing it, and it is extremely well made as are all other Astral products. Got the Eggplant color, so now she can match Mama in her Layla. It's as well made as all of our Astral PFD's (I have a Green Jacket and a Blue Jacket) and should last until she's grown into an adult size. Well done Astral!
Best quality kids PFD ever made!!
I'm on my second kid now, as well as my second Otter. The great thing about this jacket is that it has all the fit and features of Astral's adult PFDs - but scaled down for a kid between 50-90 lbs. This is a big range and I was initially concerned that it would not fit my little man (who weighs in right at 50) as well as it does his 13 year old sister (right at 90)....well it fits them both exceptionally with ZERO ride up. You can even install the leg loops for kids on the smaller side if needed. The other thing you get here is QUALITY. This is a jacket that will last for many years, and will continue fit your little one as they grow. Definitely worth the investment for kids that boat regularly.
Great vest for the little river runners!
A great kids vest with removable under leg straps. Smaller kids vests often have a single strap that goes between the legs, and gets uncomfortable for little ones quickly. This jacket has two removable straps that go around each leg. My 6 year old strongly prefers the double strap, and once he's a little bigger, we can remove and let him just use the vest on its own. This is a sturdy vest and doesn't really pack down flat, but the cylindrical shape really makes it comfortable to wear. I'd rather have a PFD that fits well when worn, instead of packs up tiny in the car. The Otter 2.0 is exactly that!
Otter life jacket
Amazing workmanship; weve had it for several years and its indestructible; colors are amazing and not a thread out of place. This year might be the last year my sons wears it although hes 8 years old (hes big) is perfect for my son on the spectrum that does a couple of surf camps and a couple of pics made the website and newspaper. He looks and feels amazing! I have not a single worry for him in the water while wearing this vest and he loves wearing it! It dries like a dream never smells funny like others that dry awkwardly.
Best Kids life jacket out there
Our son has grown up on (and in) whitewater and we got him this life jacket two years ago. I waited to write a review until I could see how it held up over time - and I have nothing but good things to say about it. After two years of almost continuous use in class II whitewater it still looks and works like new. And the best part is - it's so comfortable that our son loves wearing it. Before this he would do anything to avoid having to wear his PFD - but now he actually chooses to wear it even when he doesn't have to. He's really into whitewater stand up paddle boarding and this jacket doesn't restrict his movement in any way when he's on his board - which isn't something I can say about the jackets we tried previously. I have recommended this to several friends and I'll absolutely keep doing so!
Really Incredible Vest
I got my first vest went you guys were Lotus Designs, and ended up on the Patagonia/Lotus website surfing in my white vest up at Skook. I've worn nothing else since then. Fast forward to 2017 and my 7 year old daughter is finally paddling whitewater. I am fully impressed by the Otter. The construction detail is impeccable. The adjustments, just like your adult vests, make for the best fitting vests I have found for child. The leg loops are so much better designed than other vests so as not to be uncomfortable and prevent the vest from riding up when she goes for a swim. The grab loop is well positioned if I ever need to snatch her up, but I would probably go for a should strap first. My daughter loves the fit, finish and colors to boot. We'll be in Idaho soon putting it through it's paces. Thanks for making the best vests guys! My wife is jealous now....
Great Kids PFD
This is a tough PFD that will last a long time. My kid loves it because she doesnt rub her arm on it when she paddles. That being said I did find it hard to get a good snug fit on my smaller kid paddler. She is now about 70-75 lbs and it is perfect and she can wear it for one more season.
The Real Deal!
The first words out of my kiddos mouth were "this is so much more comfortable than my other PFD. The adjustability is amazing, loaded with all the features and quality that Astral is known for. Great looking and great fitting PFD that will outlast his weight range.
