Good quality but runs too small
I bought these in my regular pant size, which ended up not coming close to fitting right. They are good material though, and I like how they do not have built in mesh briefs like other swimsuits which get uncomfortable. I returned them because of the sizing, but they did not have any styles I liked left that fit me, so I will consider buying another pair when they make designs I like. I highly prefer nylon to polyester so this was a must for me, but if you dont have a preference keep in mind that nylon takes longer to dry and may bleed color easier.
Meets the Specs
When sitting on a surfboard, board shorts that do not stretch put unnecessary compression on my lower abdominal area and prevent my thighs from freely stretching outwards. The Patagonia Men's Stretch Wavefarer Board Shorts with 21" Outseam not only stretch and provide functional support where they hang, they also allow my thighs to freely stretch outwards. After getting out of the ocean, the material dries quickly but is thick enough to prevent anyone from discerning any critical parts of your anatomy. Long, 21" outseam decreases chances of getting sunburn above the knees. At $69, it is a bit in the high range for board shorts. However, since they meet the specs where few other well known surf clothing companies do - decided to go for it. Have been so happy with the fit and function that I bought another in a different color way.
Gem Green color lost
These were great in an ocean environment; but I took them into a pool a few times and they lost their vibrant color and turned a shade of sickly skin tone.

Most durable, comfortable and simple board shorts
The fabric that these board shorts are made of is very durable and also looks good. Some board shorts have a material that is extra stretchy and easily tears or gets stretched out. These are solid, the best material in any board shorts I have found. I surf in these, hike, climb and walk through the natural food store comfortably. I prefer the solid color ones. Patagonia please make more solid earth tones!
Supper swimming trumks
Swim 3 times a week. Disliked shorts with elastic in waistband. Like that these close with cords. Much easier on the waist. Very, very comfortable.
Water hike
Bought them last week for a hiking trip in the Zion narrows. Very comfortable and worked great in the water
Even girls can wear these
As a woman I like that these are long and ample, however only the small size, 28, really fits. Women's swim shorts tend to have short inseams. Love Patagonia, great quality.
Comfortable, but runs Small
I like the slim design, but they run a little small. I’d recommend people choose the next size up. I bought a 32 but will be returning for a 34.
Great swim trunks
Needed a new go to pair of swim shorts, these look good, have a slim leg, and perfect length. Would highly recommend.
