Needs a pocket with easy access for phone!
Love the pack - used it for two long hikes this weekend. Very comfortable. The BIG MISS on this pack (and really every pack I looked at) was the lack of a convenient place to access a phone (which is my camera) when hiking. The pockets on the hip are too small to hold the phone (I have the iPhone 7 - not the Plus). It fits but it's a BIG struggle and not worth trying to use it. Really, it's 2017 and they don't have a good place to access a phone on a pack???!!!!

Awful
The pack is minuscule and once you fit the bladder in, squishing the rest of what you’ll need for a day hike becomes an Olympic feat. Seriously what is the target audience for this? Then there’s the “adjustable” frame. Riiiiiiight. Who are they kidding here? This pack will fit a 10 year old girl but not a grown woman. I’m 5’5”, about 130 lbs, size 4. My spine measures at 17”. Even on the longest setting the belt rides up, the pack digs in all the wrong places. Said belt is a joke, I tighten it, take one step, it loosens. The pockets are useless. This one goes back.

Very comfortable daypack

This is the most comfortable day pack that I have owned. It makes carrying weight feel lighter, especially with having the hip straps. I do quite a bit of day hikes in Wisconsin where I live and it is perfect for carrying a Camelback with water, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and extra layers. I recently used this pack to hike the Inca Trail and it was the perfect size for a day pack since I had porters carrying my extra clothes, sleeping gear, and food. I was able to comfortably carry what I needed on me for 4 days of hiking. I also used this pack to hike Kings Canyon in Australia and it worked great for that as well. My husband has the men's version of the pack and he really likes his too. The only complaints about the pack that I have are minor: the hip belt pockets aren't quite big enough to put my phone so that I can reach it easily and when wearing the pack I can't reach water bottles in the side pockets so it is much easier to drink out of a hydration bladder. Even given those things, this is still a pack that I hope to use for hiking adventures for many more years to come. I've had it for about a year and a half and it is still in great condition.

Buy it

I bought the men’s version for myself and loved it so much I got the women’s version for my wife. She’s never concerned herself with comfort and has always seemed content with whatever she’s used. But after her first hike with this bag she exclaimed, “holy c&5p, I never knew a good pack could make such a big difference.” She loves the organization, comfort, size, and color.

loss of color, small, difficult reservoir setup

I've had this pack for 2 years now - time for a review. The pack is too small, the water bladder takes up all the inner space. Inserting the bladder and hose is difficult, you have to empty almost the entire pack to do so. The cutout of the tubing is cut too small. Color is not an issue with me but as you can see by the photos this pack in purple will fade to a dull gray.

Great hydration pack

I was skeptical to get this pack after several reviews mentioned the hydration opening being too small. I got the 2L platypus, which has a quite large valve and I had no issues loading it. The trick is to unclip the tube from the bottom, insert into the pack and then fill your hydration pouch and snap the tube on before you insert it. The pack is lightweight and comfortable on my 5'7'' frame. The storage capacity is adequate for a day's hike, and the multiple compartments keep me organized. My iPhone x fits snugly in the belt pocket, length wise but it is ok. Out of what was available in the store this one felt the best. I suggest you try on any pack before you order online since everyone is different.

Makes a full bag feel light!

I recently started commuting via bike to work and my old Jansport just wasn't cutting it. The weight of the bag weighed down and made climbing hills even tougher. Since I do a lot of day hiking too, I wanted 1 bag to do both jobs. The 24 size fits my work clothes, breakfast, lunch, and several other items comfortably, but is still small enough that it doesn't look bulky when I only have the few hiking items I need. The waist belt feels like a hug, which also takes a lot of the pressure off the back. Everything is adjustable: torso fitting, chest strap, several fasteners to get the perfect fit. Not to mention the assistance I received at REI was phenomena!!!

Too small and too short

Overall nice quality and features, but fits about half as much as my no-frame backpack even though they’re the same capacity, because of the frame. I did want a frame but didn’t realize it would restrict capacity that much. Once I fit my first aid kit, rain jacket, and hoodie, that’s it... no space for a water bladder or picnic lunch. Also, it’s way too short. I’m 5’8” (172cm), and even with the adjustable frame to its max, and shoulder straps way down, it sits high on my waist and the sternum straps are almost choking me, with no way to adjust them down. I’m returning and getting the men’s model, hoping the sternum straps won’t squash my breasts...

Comfortable Pack

Took several weeks to decide on this bag. Used it for more than a week in WY for long day hikes. Was a little concerned it wouldn't be big enough, but it was perfect. Was able to hold a water bladder, 2 bottles (side pockets), rain jacket, puffer jacket, first aid, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, maps and had room for more. Weather was warm and the pack was very comfortable - ventilation on the back panel really works. Hip belt and padded straps fit comfortably. I do agree that feeding the hydration tube through the hole in the back of the pack is challenging, but I'm used to taking my bite valve on/off so didn't find it to be too big of a deal.

I love this backpack

I am a day hiker and this pack, which was recommended by a friend who has an earlier version of it, is perfect for my needs. I love the size and how I can pack it with everything that I need without being weighed down thanks to the frame. Also, I live in the desert, where I do most of my hiking, so I especially like the mesh layer that helps keep moisture from building up on my back.

I'm short and it fits well

I bought this 3 weeks ago. It meets the size requirements for Machu Picchu, which is a primary reason for this particular bag. I'm 5'2", and this bag fits me well. I've been training on 12 + 13 mile hikes with about 10 pounds in the pack, and it is very comfortable even after several hours. The pole strap is very functional and holds my poles securely. I like the various compartments. The bottle holsters are deep enough that the bottles don't fall out. All the various straps allow for good adjustments whether wearing a down parka or a T-shirt.

Most comfortable pack I've ever put on

Although I've been hiking for over 15 years, I'd never owned a daypack til I bought this one. I occasionally carried a small hydration pack, but usually ended up uncomfortable by the end of my hike as a result of having weight on my shoulders. I'd always assumed a daypack would cause the same issues. I assumed wrong. In December, I decided it was high time I started carrying the 10 essentials (better late than never, right?), and went to REI already planning to buy a certain pack. After trying it on, I was convinced I'd be just as uncomfortable as I've always been in a daypack-sized backpack, and wandered over to where the Osprey packs were. I have a Sirrus 36 that I love for short trips, and I was thrilled to see that it comes in a smaller capacity. I loaded it up and walked around the store with it, and it's been my bestie ever since. This pack is so comfortable that it literally makes it feel like I'm not carrying a backpack. It's like it's part of me, and I don't even notice it's on, even when stuff it full. I loaded it up with 3 liters of water, my hiking essentials, and a few extra things just for weight, then hiked 6 miles. I felt so good at the end I was assuming I'd drank all my water and was carrying an essentially empty pack. I was shocked when I took it off my back and found my pack still weighed about 10 lbs! The back panel design is fantastic for helping to keep your back from getting drenched with sweat, and the hip belt is substantial enough to keep the weight off my shoulders. The pockets are great for keeping my gear organized and easy to access, and the pack bag itself is big enough for anything I could possibly need on even a long day hike. I could probably use it for a fast and light overnight trip, but it cinches down enough to not flop around when I only have water inside. I have carried this pack on literally every hike I've taken since I got it, just because I love it so much. My husband got the men's version and is just as happy with his.
