Great...Until They Fell Apart...Four Times
I loved these shorts. I've bought four pairs from REI. I wore them camping, tubing, swimming, and pretty much everywhere else. Then the stitching started coming out along the seam of the seat, on the one pair I owned at the time. I exchanged them at REI and got a new pair, assuming that the first was just a one-off. Both pairs started coming unstitched in exact same place after a dozen wearings or so, so I returned both and ordered replacements. One of the new replacement pairs already has the same issue right out of the shipping package. Very disappointed with the quality. REI has been great about the exchanges, but I'm looking for alternatives now.
Needs more belt loops
The main issue with these shorts is that they have only five belt loops rather than a more typical seven. The result is that if you have a few things in your pockets, it pulls the pants below the belt. This has happened on multiple occasions to me already and I've had these about a month. Otherwise, they are excellent quality and Patagonia is a great company.
Versatile shorts
These are great light weight shorts. Used them for hiking and casual wear. They dried super quickly so I wouldn't be worried about fishing or swimming in them as they have a draw string for extra support and mesh pockets.
great short for hiking; urban or otherwise...
These shorts are incredibly comfortable. Purchased them with Co-Op Dividends and 20% coupon. I would not have paid the $70+ retail they were asking; but for $25, they are a steal. I bought these to wear on spring break in Miami w/my family and again for a Smokey Mountains camping trip, w/the same family. We went to a botanical garden and some additional intensive walking in warm climate activities. These shorts were great!
Lightweight and Comfortable
Great for everyday use or hiking, these shorts are very lightweight, yet sturdy and comfortable. The back pockets are made of mesh and never bunch up, and the right side pocket has a button to prevent your wallet from falling out - it's probably the easiest button on shorts I've ever had. The inseam is a great length, not too short or too long. I plan to buy another pair.
Only Shorts I wear now
Comfortable, Lightweight, and durable I bought a pair in each color after I got my first pair. I do size up in Patagonia bottoms, I am technically 34. but wear 36 because I like them comfortable and loose and more room in the legs. 34 was really slim in the waist for me and small in the legs. So if on verge I would recommend sizing up.
the best shorts I have owned
These are hands down the most comfortable shorts I have owned period. They are also very functional and stylish. They look great and are good for everyday wear, or outdoors including the beach or pool.
great resort short
Bought these shorts the day before we left for the Dominican. never took them off unless it was cold out. Dry quickly and totally comfortable
