so i think this is the brightest, best flashing-save-a-biker light to exist. but if i have to replace it every year then it's not going to work for me. it confidently lit the way before dawn and after sunset many times over the year it worked. then, it just would not hold a charge. literally failed to stay lit for longer than 2 minutes after charging all night. then, when i plugged in on what would be one of it's last days, the light began to flash, then it stayed on nonstop until i unplugged it. then it flashed rapidly before complete failure. one year on a $60 lamp? i reached out the manufacturer and they of course wanted me to return it on my dime, maybe they could repair or replace it, but it should last longer than a year. never in a rain storm, stored indoors. properly charged. it's a shame b/c this really is the BEST blinking light out there, and i had many motorists tell me as much.

Bright lights; less-than-expected battery life

I've owned and used these bike lights for several years, as an all-season commuter. I love how easy they are to mount / dismount to my bike, and the ease of charging. Unless newer versions have changed the port, mine utilize micro-USB. So, the charging process can take a while. The lights are bright, and make a noticeable difference on my early-morning bike commutes. Even during the bright daytime, they're still visible and (hopefully) increases the chance of others seeing me. My main complaint is the advertised battery life - I can bike commute for several days, approximately 8 miles per direction, and the batteries will be low or dead, even though I'm using the brightness modes that should garner the most battery life. I recognize that after several years of use, the battery life may have degraded slightly. But this is a minor inconvenience, which is why I removed only one star - as long as I'm paying attention, I can easily charge the lights after seeing the low-battery indicator and not worry about them going dead during a bike ride. Even though I'm exploring a dynamo setup for lights, I still intend to keep the taillight mounted as an additional light, and keep them both for backup purposes.

Great All Around

I bought this and was worried about it not being bright enough on my early morning and late night rides. But I must say, after using this 5-6 times, it has been perfect. It is great when I use it riding through city neighborhoods that have street lights, and I used it on my first trail ride in the complete dark tonight. I ride 12-15mph, and the light clearly projected down the trail and out in front of me. I usually ride for over an hour, and both lights never even made it to the low warning. 600L is plenty bright for dark paved trail rides, and dark city streets! I am so happy with this purchase!

Excellent bright lights that make a safer ride

Both lights are very bright even in the daylight. I can see the reflection off street signs almost a half mile away on the tree covered bike path I ride on. Even when using them in the day, cars seem to see me coming and are more likely to stop, which I am very happy about since I bought them after almost getting hit by a truck that did not see me. The only downside is that with all of the different modes that the lights work in, I find it hard to tell which mode I have selected, especially since it is not a good idea to look at the lights directly.

Great front light but backlight has issues.

The Dash Pro 600 is great. Provides pretty good but not perfect road lighting but serves best as a means to let other road users see you. 3 years of use without issue. The Hotrod 50 stopped working just at the 3 year mark. Refuses to hold a charge though charging light is shown. I suggest buying the Dash Pro 600 as a standalone item and get the rear light from some other maker.

Extremely poor battery

The front Cygolite Dash Pro 600 is fine but the rear hotrod 50 has a very very poor battery. My first light died after a couple of months. Every time I was returning home, I would discover that rear light was off. Initially, I thought I simply forgot to turn it on. After this started happening, I turned it on in the house. It switched off after a couple of minutes by itself. I got it replaced by REI. Now, after a year of use, this replacement started doing the same. I no longer trust Cygolite's Hotrod line of lights.

Best Bike Light I've Owned

Bought this set after carefully reading reviews on other bike lights and thought this set was the best available. Been using them for a couple months and I have to say I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a bright set of bike lights. I particularly enjoy the wide range of modes on headlight that make it easy to set to the perfect setting.

Doesn't hold a charge

I bought this set last year to replace some similar lights that were stolen. Neither the headlight or taillight seem to hold a charge for an hour. Most of my rides are at least an hour long and I prefer to have lights on for added visibility for the duration of my rides. They're great when they're fresh off the charger, but overall I'm pretty disappointed in low capacity of the battery, especially given the size and bulk of the headlight.

Very bright

These lights are awesome! They've got a few settings each and are easy to cycle through with just a single touch of the button. They're simple to attach to your bike; the rubber clasp adjusts to many different sizes. The only thing I wish was different was that the battery life would be a bit longer. Even so, I easily get a week or two of nighttime commuting in before I have to worry about recharging these.

Who knew bike lights could be so good?

Very bright, you can actually see where you're going. Attach securely and detach easily for recharging. Remarkably small and light. Lots of modes.
