Recently wore these on a climb up Mt Rainier. I’m a novice and swiped my pants with crampons several times. Not a single snag or tear. These things are serious tough while also being stretchy and breathable.
Great pant with plenty of room throughout the pant that will be familiar to anyone who has worn Kuhl before. Very durable fabric and well placed hip pockets that zipper close mean stuff won't fall out while you can access easily with liner gloves still on. -15 F means nothing with these and a good baselayer, while the breathability means you won't be soaked in sweat in the cabin, office, or ski lodge. Zippered boot gusset means these can be opened and slide over my ski boot as well as a nice pair of hikers. Color is not outrageous and the soft fabric means they can transition into the workplace and not have the swish-swish of snowpants following you around all day. Stretch means comfort all day no matter what you are doing. Love these pants.
These pants are by far the best Pants I’ve ever worn. They are so incredibly versatile with all of the pockets and it ability to wear layers underneath as well as being somewhat water repellent. One of the things I like the most about them is the zipper at the bottom of the lakes. The biggest issue I have with Pants is the bottoms not being able to fit around my shoe or boots. I guess I’m not into the skinny jeans phase. And the zipper allows the freedom to fit over any shoe or boot I have. I have four pairs of these pants and I wear them daily for work and play. However I have not seen these pants at any of these three area REI stores in quite some time. I don’t know if they discontinued these or what’s going on but I would love to get more and it they can make them in a couple other colors would be great also. Bottom line is these are the greatest pants ever and I would recommend them to anyone I know. Pretty darn cool pants Kuhl.
These are by far the best hiking pant I've owned. Insanely comfortable and a great performer in wet conditions. In Seattle it's pretty much cold and wet/raining every day from Oct-May and these make the lousy conditions an afterthought. I put these on and just blaze a trail. The stretch makes it easy to get active without restrictions and the material is heavy enough not to worry about brushing past a rock face or some thicker brush. By FAR the best product I've purchased at REI and I've found some really great stuff there. Thanks to Kuhl for making the Klash!
So impressed with these, that I got another pair. Great for winter, fall and Spring. Too warm for summer though. They are very functional with plenty of pockets, and other great features. Well insulated but with a stretchy enough fabric. I use these for daily wear and hiking. You could do resort skiing in them if you were in a pinch. I would not take them into the backcountry for high output activities in mild conditions as they very little ventilation. But they could work in very cold conditions for the backcountry use or some mountaineering. Too warm at around 60+ degrees. The fit is spot on, not too baggy or loose but still not freaking skinny jeans! Just right for me.
Absolutely awesome pants. Tough material water and snow resistant very durable. The boot hooks are an awesome and unique addition to these pants. On to where these pants need improvement. The pocket zippers are a little weak heavier zippers would really help also, the main button needs to be changed in design the push through button style wears fast and will no longer stay together. Now! I will say I’ve put 250 miles on these pants rugged brutal hikes all around oregon. I just got my second pair. For $140.00 well worth the money and if the button and zippers were bulked up a little I would gladly pay 180-200 for these pants.
I bought these in an attempt to have one do it all pair of winter pants. My activities include hiking / mountaineering, show shoeing, cross country skiing, and some cycling. So far I have used them on a few mountain bike rides, and only have positive things to say. They stretch and move as needed, are windproof, and warm. I bought my standard pant size, and they fit well over cycling bibs, and base layers as needed. The pant legs have not interfered with the drivetrain on the bike. I did wear my ski pant suspenders and belt which kept the pants up without any fuss. The pockets are enough to meet my needs. Overall, I am very happy with them so far.
I have owned a single pair of these pant for over two years and I have worn them nearly daily ever since. I have worn them through blizzard, rain, heat, travel, daily work, lounging, skiing, working, hiking, - EVERYTHING! They are very flexible and very comfortable in any climate and all conditions. They are a bit heavy, and don’t handle sparks or direct heat like welding, (really really minor issue, but just saying...) only othe issue is there is an integrated boot hook for gaiter use that always catches my big toe nails and there is an insanely horrific moment when this happens... STILL totally worth it- Love them and I’m only reviewing because I would like another put and I’m very pleased to find they are still made and for sale!
I'm heading to Iceland for 2 months, so am stocking up on clothes that can deal with a bit of wind/snow/water. That's a bit difficult for me as I'm short, dumpy, and have big quads. Overall, Kuhl pants fit me best of the major brands --- but unfortunately they're shifting over to a smaller fit with narrow legs and crotch area. I'll probably keep them as better than nothing, but still wish that Kuhl would go back to their prior fit. NB: Sadly a 30" inseam is also too long for me. It would be very nice if Kuhl and REI either stocked the 28" inseams or offered an adjustment service. Personally, I'd even be willing to accept altered items as non-returnable if they would actually fit.
I bough these for climbing Aconcagua and they held up great! Durable enough to be warm and water resistant at basecamp and camp 1, comfortable and lightweight. Would highly recommend.
