No issues after 6 years of hard use!
Ridden hard and summited several PNW mountains every year for 6 years with these... never had a slip issue... still use my original pair. I prefer the flat to the canted as the canted pucks seem to elevate the binding off the board more which can create pressure points around the pucks. I've broke a splitboard and separately a pair of bindings riding hard but I've never noticed pucks slipping or anything. I have probably used my 6 year old flat pucks about 15-20 days/yr minimum. Maybe some have different shallow threads on there boards or something but think you would notice this right away when setting them up if the screws are not pulling the pucks tight appropriately. If anything I've used a few drips of biodegradable bar and chain oil to help new bindings slide on easier. Not much better out there presently in my opinion for splitboarders unless you're maybe really into more hardboots and mountaineering which is a whole other can of worms. These are somewhat more laborious than setting up a typical snowboard binding... could be lighter but they've been reliable for me and this is backcountry gear... everything is a bit different and more challenging than the resort gear. Also, spark R&D customer service have been reasonable to work with when I've broken a binding. It was out of warranty but they at least gave me a reasonable discount on individual parts to keep me going. I didn't even know the individual parts were available to purchase had I not reached out to them. Some of these negative reviews seem either suspect or lazy at best.
Poor design, pucks slip in multiple directions
The pucks slip laterrally and horizontally. This is not an issue with long screws, I have specially procured shorter screws. I also assumed it must be my own stupidity when they first slipped so i brought it to a shop that sells and is familiar with spark bindings to have them mount it properly. They tightened it up, slipped again next day on the mountain. Perhaps there it is possible to mount these in a way that they wont slip, but if i and the shop tech who rides sparks can't do it properly... well thats still bad design in my book. I would love to see them make a sturdier design with less mounting options.
Plastic moves around!
This is my second season with these pucks and a Weston Backwoods split. I'm not sure if it's becuase my board is too thin for the screws or what but the plastic plates move around after a few runs making the whole binding shift forward and backward! This is pretty darn scarry both on groomers at hight speed and in the backcountry when you need to make a fast turn to avoid a collision with a tree, rock, root etc... From what I read online I'm not the only one.
Solid!
Best on the market hands down. Especially for Spark bindings. Much better quality than Voile , Spark is leading in split board bindings no question.
Garbage. Pucks spin all around center disk.
These things are junk, the design is horrible, buy voilè. the pucks spin and never actually lock in the groove on the center disk. I wouldn’t trust these as your binding may shift if you shred hard.
So far so g
Didn’t tighten enough and the loosened up after a few runs. Easy fix.
