Bindings broke on first useI wrote this review for the Atlas Elektra snowshoes, but is relevant for this product as well. With that being said, I did a lot of research on REI's website and I thought the Atlas brand snowshoes would be a great Christmas present for my wife. One of the features I liked was the binding system with the Boa closures. Easy to get your boots on and off; however, I was a little apprehensive due to the thin wires that this system uses to tighten the bindings. I even bought myself a pair of the Atlas Stratus with the same binding system. My wife and I went snowshoeing up in Rocky Mountain National Park on New Years Eve day, and shoeshoed almost 6 miles. On the way back, the binding wire on one of my wife's snowshoes snapped. About a half a mile later, the same thing happen to one of my snowshoes. Fortunately, most of the trail was snow packed and just threw on our Yaktraxs to finish out our day. Went back to REI today to exchange these snowshoes for a different brand. The lady at REI told me she had another return yesterday for the same problem on these Atlas snowshoes with the Boa binding closure system. Great idea, but obviously, not throughly tested in real world applications, IMO.

Great SnowshoesThe Boa system makes it easy to put on snowshoes, and very easy to tighten them when your out in the snow. Taking them off at the end of your trek is easy when your tired and wore out. They are rugged and stand up to all I have put them through. The snowshoes are lightweight and trek easy through trees and deadfall in snow.
