I've ridden a handfull of boards, and I just bought my second Premium Element after selling a gilson that I bought less than a year ago. These things are night and day difference from any other board. The grip tech on these things is incredible, one second you'll loose an edge, or flat spin out and the board will correct for you, it's crazy. When I came back to my older element after riding my gilson for about a month It felt like i came back home to snowboarding. After having gone through that I knew these would be the only board I'll put this kind of money down on. And 300 bucks for a premium?!? Yes. This is more worth it than spending 500-600 on any other brands signature boards.
I did a lot of research before buying this board. I wanted a all-mountain board because I enjoy carving down the mountain, but hit the park. First time out it will take awhile to get used to the extra edges. They almost make turning to easy. This board will handle great in the park as well. Jumps, Rainbows, Box's and rails no issue. Highly recommend this board.
After being on a loaner camber board for a while I decided it was time to get my own board. I did my due diligence and decided on this. I figured it would be a fun all-mountain board that would be up for anything I managed to throw at it, and so far that has been the case. I've been out on it a few times so far in varying conditions. You can tell this board was meant to slay powder, that's where it shines. No surprise there. I was a bit nervous about how it would perform in heavily ridden hard pack and icy conditions though. It didn't fail me there either. Obviously it doesn't do it like a camber board would but I had no problem carving icy slopes or bombing through heavily trafficked hard pack. It did have the tendency to want to track along with the frozen ruts of previous riders but it wasn't anything terrible. I could say the grip tech nubs help but I have no other rocker experience to compare it to. I felt confident in every edge I set and never once felt like I was going to wash out. That was one of my main concerns and this board put it right to bed. Can't wait to get more familiar with this beautiful board. For those wondering about size, I'm 5'10", around 200 lbs, size 11 boot and I went with the 158MW.
This board is amazing, plows through some heavy powder like butter, stable with higher speeds, grips really well even on the occasional unexpected patches of ice, simply a joy and a thrill.
The board is beautiful. The only disappointing is going back into REI before I have even used the board and now this model is on sale.
