Not for horizontal dropouts
I purchased this product to protect my vintage Schwinn's wheels from getting lifted in the city. I was disappointed to realize that these skewers are not made for horizontal front-facing dropouts after the rear wheel was torqued out 5 times on my short commute to and from work. I will say that if my frame were different, I definitely would have kept this product. The skewers were easily installed and very inconspicuous looking. The keyring was small enough to fit in my pocket, and worked great at tightening the wheels down quickly. Ultimately, I retuned this product to pick up some Delta KnoxNut's, which offered more grip for my particular bike frame.
They will slow down a wheel thief, but...
I had a customer that lost their key/fob so I had to grind flats on the ends to use a conventional wrench to undo the skewers. FYI
Wish the "key" was less clunky
Locking axles are indispensible for urban life. I just wish the "key" for these Pinheads was a little more compact on my keychain. It has an integrated bottle opener, which, with a keyring installed, I think might be hard to operate - but I haven't tried. Doesn't everyone know how to open a bottle with another bottle or a lighter? Delta makes a similar product, though much less secure, but their key is far less cumbersome to carry (and use), in my opinion.
