Just Save Your Money...
Short story: Just save your money, who needs a pen that writes upside down or in space anyways? You can find short pens elsewhere for a fraction of the price. Pros: It writes. It's a nice quality material. Small, easily fits in a pocket. Cons: Price (and refill price). It easily starts unscrewing (which is how you replace/refill the cartridge). Although it's never come apart on me, I'm afraid it will, and parts will randomly get lost at an inopportune time. If you put the cap on the back when writing, the ring that comes attached constantly "dings" against the metal cap. Not that pleasant when writing in the quiet of nature. Either remove the ring or don't attach the cap to the back.
Works great on the lake
I needed to record some measurements from the seat of my kayak. With this pen, and some waterproof paper, I have been able to do so with no problems. The ink bleeds for the first second (if you're writing on wet paper) or so, but dries almost immediately. I have only used it, so far, in fresh water. Hopefully, it will work as well in salt water.
easily detached
great little pen but the pen falls off from the cap easily. lost it a few times, but was able to find it. the last time, it was lost forever. great idea, poor execution.
Really like this pen!
I have carried a Fisher Backpacker Space Pen on my key ring for many years. I use it to pull my keys out of my pocket. I really like that it never fails and it will write in any position. The pressurized ink cartridge works smoothly— the ink never smears. I couldn’t count the times a friend needed to “borrow” a pen and my Space pen always works. It’s definitely well worth the price!!!
GREAT PEN!
I have had this pen for years. It works great for trail journaling on backpack trips. It DOES work on Write-In-The-Rain paper, I’ve never had a problem with it.
Fisher Pens are great in all aspects EXCEPT THIS
I have owned Fisher Space Pens for 25 years. Never had this specific design before. I put on a necklace to hike and within 20 minutes it fell apart. Bottom half lost forever on the ground with upper part still on my necklace. VERY POORLY DESIGNED. If you keep in a purse or pocket it will serve you well.....writes anywhere, anytime.
Great PEN!!!
Great pen to have on hand. I'm an artist, school teacher, and traveller. I always have this pen with me. One is hanging on my lanyard at school. The other in my purse. When I was a contracted gardener in the summers, I kept it in my overall front pocket for notes. Its never goopy and always at the ready. I bought a third one for my son as a gift after he completed a summer study program.
Great writing instrument for any weather.
Fantastic pen. Compact, but it extends to a full-size pen. Paired with my Rite In The Rain notebook, I can take field notes in any conditions. Recommended for anyone who needs to take notes outdoors for work or hobbies, or those who just like to jot down their thoughts and ideas whenever the inspiration hits. Also, it's refillable, thus more sustainable if it ever runs out of ink.
Not great for a pocket pen
Has worked well for a long time, however it comes apart in my pocket. It's designed so that one end of it can be removed so you can refill it, but that end comes off when it's in my pocket. Would not recommend it as a pocket pen, but it is probably decent for other situations like backpacking where it's not constantly being moved around.
Falls into pieces in your pocket
Comes unscrewed in your pocket easily, all the pieces then fall on the ground
