Great road bike
This bike has been a blast to ride. But i gave it 3 stars because of the rear hub. After 600 miles the rear hub sounded like a rock crusher. Took it in to the store and they replaced the hole rear wheel. Now after almost another 600 miles the new hub is starting to have problems as well. The free wheel will stop free wheeling. This bime is only two months old and I shouldn't be having problems with the hubs. As far as the ride, its fast. It feels great, shifting is smooth. Wish the chain came with a quick link. The front derailer is a little noisy in the lower teeth gears. Except for the hub issue that I have been having I love this bike!
Great for beginner cyclist's
I've been wanting to get into cycling for a few months now, but wasn't sure what bike to start out with. I went into an REI store and learned about the Co-op cycle ARD 1.1 Bike. The staff was extremely kind and informative. I love the fact that this bike has disk brakes and a carbon fork. I have over 200 miles on my bike now, and everything is running smoothly. The reason I gave it 4 stars is the saddle that comes standard, can be very uncomfortable. I am thinking about putting a carbon seat post and a different saddle on mine. Overall, this is a great bike for beginner cyclist's looking to get out on the road.
Great choice for beginners
I bought this bike on the 4th of july sale. I thought this bike was a good deal for a beginner like me in road biking. I love the fact that both are disc brakes and it has a very smooth transition. The bike does not come with paddles and the saddle is kind of uncomfortable. Overall it is a great bike to start with. I have been riding this bike almost everyday. There are no problems shown so far and i am looking forward to add a kickstand on it.
Great value for entry level road bike
I bought this bike to commute to work and I'm having a blast riding it. It's light and looks great. Gears switch efficiently. It takes some time to learn how to use the front derailer to prevent chain from rubbing it but the trick for me is there's about 4 stops and I'll pick one based on where the chain is on the rear hub and how much cross chaining is happening. My front brake is squealing but I'll have to wait until my first REI tune-up to ask them to check it out.
Great entry level road bike for the money
Very impressed with the ride, and am liking the frame - seems very low on vibrations. Low bike weight. Wanted to commute to work via bike and ease into casual weekend riding and the ARD 1.1 met all my requirements and I does not disappoint. I'd buy it again. Wanted a solid color, but the small amount of two tone coloring was acceptable.
Great frame, terrible components
I bought one in the spring of 2017. Really enjoyed it but I was constantly having to bring it back in for adjustments. Of particular problem were the bottom bracket and front derailleur. After a number of repairs I would up using REIs great return policy And buying a new bike with 105 components.
Fantastic cost effective Road Bike
I’m 6’6” tall and the XL fits perfectly, smooth ride, very comfortable, my wrist doesn’t hurt, very light weight and great handling. Btw: the sattte is uncomfortable like every other... it’s goes away riding more often
Durable and worthy
I've been riding this bike daily for 4 mi in city for about 4 months now. I've had no problems with it whatsoever. Its definitely worth the price.
Upgraded my commute
The bike is great, exactly what I was looking for. The cycling service at rei, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I was limited to only adding one accessory due to time limits on what they will include with the purpose. I took it in for the 20-mile check and to have some fenders put in and the wait time was a week. There is no option to make an appointment to come back. You have to leave the bike. I commute on my bike. For simple tunes, you should be able to get it done in a few hours. The sales staff were very helpful. No complaints there.
Wonky tires
I just had a tune up thinking maybe that was the issue. But the tires are wonky. They lose about 20 to 25 psi in the tire after a ride or two. Just got new tubes in and stronger tire. But nothing seems to help. Dobt think I'll be getting another REI bike again. My last bike was 300 bucks less and worked better. This is a rough ride.
