Could not get multiple scales to work

We got this scale over the holidays. When we tried to set it up on our WiFi network at home, we went through all the processes perfectly, however it never actually connected to WiFi, so the metrics were never added our Garmin Connect accounts. I tried the different setups for iOS, Andrioid, and the ANT+ stick, and the same thing happened every time. I even sent one scale back to Garmin and got a new one, but still got the "wrench of death" setup that unfortunately wasn't on any of the reviews we read before purchasing, but if you dig deep enough on Garmin forums, seems to be a huge problem. I really tired every way I could to make this expensive scale work, but it just doesn't, and as much as we wanted it to work, we'll be disappointingly returning this item.

Very impressed with body fat accuracy!

I purchased the Garmin Index scale a week ago and was very impressed with the ease of setup. I chose the Garmin Index since I have a Garmin Forerunner15 watch and was already familiar with the GarminConnect app. What impressed me the most is that I had the Dexa Scan body fat test done today and the result was my body fat percentage is 25%, the Garmin was amazingly close at 23.8%!!

Like it.

This is the first smart scale I have owned and I bought this one because I have a Garmin fenix 3 HR watch and use Garmin connect already. Everything works as advertized. Make sure you use you phone + App using bluetooth to set the scale up otherwise you could have problems with setup. Dont use laptop or Wifi. Use phone app via bluetooth.

Weight Accurate, Question The Rest

The weight reported by this scale is accurate, and consistent. But the body fat and muscle I question. When I started a lifting program, there was no change in my body fat/muscle percentage, even though I was putting on weight and not gaining much fat. It seems to base these numbers more off an algorithm than anything else. This scale is also more expensive than other smart scales. It does detect people and sync well, so it has that going for it. And I like having my weight in my Garmin app with everything else. I also was able to get this scale refurbished to soften the cost.

Extremely overpriced weight measurement device

I bought this item hoping to keep track of my body fat percentage. I got it out of the box, had minor difficulty getting it synced with my phone, but nothing major. Stepped on the scale, the display was great and easy to see. It recognized my profile every time buuuut the body fat percentage came back at 7%. I'm about 90% certain that my body fat is somewhere between 15-20%. I searched online for a way to fix it and made the adjustments that were recommended and the final number was 7.5%. While the number did boost my confidence (sorta), because I know that's not even close to real, I had to return it. I don't want to pay $150 for an easy way to see my weight. Nor do I actually care about what my weight is. I would say pass on this scale until they figure the body fat percentage algorithm corrected.

Great Scale When It Works.

Garmin seems to have released this scale before it finished trouble shooting it. Scale arrived and would not connect to WiFi via bluetooth. After spending about half an hour on hold with Garmin a representative tried to trouble shoot the scale. Finally he said he would like to send me an ANT+ stick to try to sync the scale that way. Received a call from Garmin the same day the ANT+ stick arrived saying they had made some software changes and that the changes should resolve my problem (great customer service). I had already successful synced the scale with the ANT+ stick so I disregarded the message. Scales worked great for 6 days. Then lost connection with WiFi. Scale still gives you all the information it just doesn't upload it to Garmin Connect. I tried to reconnect via bluetooth since they said that was fixed. This time I got a "wrong password" message even though I was entering the correct password. I have not had time to attempt further trouble shooting, but plan to. I really like the scales when they are working so I hope that I can resolve the issue; however, based on the Garmin Forums I don't have high hopes.

Buyer beware

Scale worked for a half year, then would not set back up when I had to change batteries. If you go to the Garmin forums, there are hundreds of complaints about the Index Scale and how glitchy it is to pair with Garmin Connect. In the forums there is ZERO support from Garmin itself other than several years of "we're working on a fix." A huge disappointment as I rely on my Garmin watch for training.

Good, but sometimes doesn't sync

Overall, this is a good smart scale. I like that it syncs automatically with my Garmin account via WiFi. However, I find that it sometimes doesn't connect by WiFi the first time. I often have to step on and go through the measurement displays a few times before it successfully syncs (there is an "X" at the top of the screen the other times).

Great scale

This is the perfect scale if you own garmin products or just by itself. Lots of information, accurate and downloads your info to your garmin connect account. As with every electronics nothing is perfect, but it’s fun to keep up with my info.

Love the scale

Initially I bought the fitbit scale which was designed for people with fitbit watches. When I changed over and went garmin watch, now I was using 2 apps. so I switched to the garmin scale and wow. so much more stats and functionality. Way more impressed than I was with the fitbit scale.
