Features

  • Main shell fabric comes from a superior Japanese mill that uses 20-denier, 24 high-filament nylon fabric for a softer feel and higher tear strength than other nylons
  • The yarn is woven into an extremely tight weave that's dense enough to increase the downproofness and tear strength
  • All fabrics have a durable water repellent (DWR) finish to fend off light rain and stains
  • Strategically placed self-overlay on body front and sleeves provides extra protection from the elements
  • Soft-shell-reinforced fabric on the shoulders allows you to carry skis or equipment with sharp edges that would shred any ordinary down sweater
  • Lightweight underarm knit panels allow heat to escape for climate control and comfort in a wide range of temperatures
  • Ethically sourced (non-force-fed and not 'live-plucked') 800-fill goose down provides a superior warmth-to-weight ratio and is highly compressible
  • Built with different sized baffles, it boasts excellent warmth right where you need it
  • Large baffles at the body front and back provide core warmth, while the smaller side-panel baffles lend a contoured fit and reduce bulk for layering under a heavier shell
  • Precision 3D fit naturally follows your body's shape, and the intricate construction eliminates binding typically found on the inside seams of jackets
  • Designed with a 3D brim and multiple adjustments on both the opening and the rear hatband, the signature 5-panel hood provides a personalize fit for comfort and warmth
  • When you don't need it, the hood lays flat
  • Internal stretch cuffs
  • Reverse-coil zip hand pockets with custom zipper pulls; inside mesh pocket
  • Tested to more than 10K pulls, the Metaluxe center front zipper looks like metal at one-third the weight; ergonomic Kuhl crest zipper pull
  • Custom reflective ribbon below the zippers prevents snags and increases visibility in the dark

In Love with this Jacket <3
I am in love with this Kuhl down parka. I am always cold, even "indoors with the heat on" always-cold. This jacket is great, it is light, very comfortable, easy to move around in, extremely warm, and the longer length really helps keep me warm on extra chilly days. The hood is great and doesn't blow off in heavy winds when the jacket is fully zipped which I really appreciate. When its really raining outside, I pair this with my un-lined REI Belted Trench Coat and it fits and looks great. I highly recommend this jacket, I debated purchasing it due to the cost, but I am glad I did. I can tell this will be a staple in my winter wardrobe for years.

2016 Kuhl Parka model
Just a heads up. I have three of these Kuhl parka’s. I just received the 2016 model (with the zipper in the arm) and the sizing has changed. The Small is about the size of the 2015 version XS. At lease for me, I probably can’t wear a pair of jeans and a sweater under the coat without the mid-section being tight. Arm’s, upper body are still generously sized.

Soft, warm, fashionable

I bought this a few weeks ago and I've loved it ever since. First of all, it looks great, both in color and how it looks on. The lines on the front make it looks less bulky and slimmer. It's also very soft and warm. I went for a walk in about 10 degrees F and my torso was very warm. Also, the two storage pockets are great!! Both are large and in good locations. I'm usually a S top and M bottom. I bought the M size because it was pretty snug around my hips. Just keep that in mind if ordering online.

Love it

I'm slim: 5'-2", 105#, 32B. Size XS fits great with room for a sweater underneath. This parka is perfectly comfortable for most cold days in Portland, Oregon. I love that it is light in weight but quite warm. However, I'm keeping my Patagonia Downtown Loft mid-calf coat for the really cold days. (A few years ago, I bought the Patagonia at REI for a winter in Stockholm.) Yesterday, I wore the Kuhl Spyfire in a light rain and the water beaded up. It dried quickly. For more rain, I grab my umbrella. It has a comfy stay-in-place hood. Great neck/chin coverage. The fabric is super soft. The trim fit means I don't feel like I am wearing a sleeping bag. Kuhl really takes care of the little details -- everything just works -- zippers, pulls, cinches for hood. One small place for improvement: I'd like the hand pockets a little higher. Would have preferred navy, but black will do.

Flattering Style

I was looking for a warm down coat that also was stylish. This coat keeps you very warm and flatters a womans shape. The coat is very lightweight. High collar keeps the wind and elements away from you and it fits nicely around your neck. It's not waterproof so I bought a lightweight shell to put over it for when it's sleeting heavily or raining hard.

Toasty warm!

I bought this in early December 2016 when I moved from California to Portland. It has totally saved my life this Winter! I hasn't failed to keep me warm. The workmanship is very good, and it shows no wear despite my wearing it daily (sometimes indoors, too).

Really love the jacket but had to return due to fi

I bought this in a size small. I normally wear a 6 (sometimes a 4) and am 5.8" and 130lbs. It fit OK with a sweater under but was snug in the hips and shoulders. I thought a medium would be too large so I reluctantly returned it.

down parka

I though this coat was going to be really warm with it being longer. But it isn't and may short down coat is much warmer. I was disappointed living in MN where it gets rally cold.

Runs Small - But Beautiful Coat!

LOVE the coat - soft, chic, and slimming. The raven color is black with a hint of a blue tone. I am a size 10 jeans, 36DD top. I usually wear a large, but the large in this coat was way too tight. I could zip it, but no room to move. The coat is does not give room at the hips. I returned for an XL - which I never have had to purchase before.

Good choice, I think

I love the feminine lines. The sleeves are too long and I’m hesitant to shorten them. It tends to leak but I’m hoping it will get better. It s warm enough for Sacramento climate and proved a good rain coat in the only rain we’ve had since I’ve had the coat
